So as everyone knows, Ive had the worst luck with menstrual issues in the past year. I got dx with polycystic ovary syndrome and its just seemed to go downhill from then. For the last three months I havent had a period even though Ive been on the pill. Then like a month ago I stopped taking the pill for like two weeks and then started taking it again two weeks ago. So the way its supposed to work, is I take the pill for 3 weeks and then get a period on the 4th week. But its the end on the second week and Ive got my period, and this is no spotting, but a heavy flow. Plus I have this acne breakout on my face.

I havent had acne in years!!! I dont know whats going on, when I went to the gyno she told me its my high prolactin levels (caused by risperdal) that was causing the missed period. But how do you explain this. Isnt birth control supposed to regulate when you have a period and all the hormones involved in it. So does that mean that if im having a period now that my hormones are out of wack and that something is wrong.

And is there anything you can do to correct a prolactin imbalance besides stopping the medication thats causing the imbalance? Im so frustrated with all of this, I have no money to spend on doctors anymore. Its emotionally draining and depressing. I really dont want to deal with this anymore.

HELP PLEASE!

Yes Sherryanne

The pill is supposed to regulate your periods but it may not due to many factors. It is a royal pain when it doesn't.

Unfortunately, only a gyno, doctor or a person dealing with hormones imbalances may or may not be able to help you and they all cost money.

Try going getting a second opinion from another doctor - they might have some ideas.

Good luck
