I have a phobia that I caught HIV/AIDS. I got tested about a month ago and was negative. I get tested for stds over 12 times a year. It's crazy. I don't even have sex with a lot of different partners. Now that my health insurance ran out I can't get tested every few weeks like before and my anxiety is getting out of control.

You can have your partner tested, and ask to see their results?? If they don't want to, that could be a sign that maybe you may want to hold off with being with them?

Does anyone know if even someone is tested positive for HIV that they don't necisarily have AIDS??? Or is it the other way around?

Plus getting tested every three weeks or so doesn't always mean it would show up right away anyways?

Hi,
you stated you don't have alot of different partners and that's good. Make sure that you insist on safe sex (condoms). If you practice safe sex and don't indulge in other high risk behaviors then I think you should relax. There is no need to test 12 times a year. Make sure you're knowledgable of exactly how std's are transmitted.

I wonder if you have a phobia more about germs or contamination and HIV is your target nasty........afterall, it can be life threatening.

You do not have multiple partners, I assume you are not a healthworker or doctor, I assume you are not in a relationship, you do not have excess exposure to blood or blood products, you do not use unclean needles, you are not doing missionary or volunteer work in overpopulated areas that are HIV prevelant and i assume that you do not engage in other sexual acts that do not fit into the "norm"(I use that term loosely).

Rationally, your percentage of exposure to HIV is almost non-existant(I am making alot of assumptions based on the information you have given)

I wonder if this is something you need to talk to your T about.......it sounds like it is affecting your life and the amount of testing you have had done is astounding.........be kind to yourself and work at getting rid of the worry.......It can be crippling.......
