I am thinking about asking my doctor about taking a drug holiday. I won't do it unless medically supervised. I think I need to give my body a rest. I have been on meds for 10 years and think that it needs a rest. I have trouble sleeping, get constipated, get headaches, have trouble thinking sometimes and think that it could be related to all the medicine I take. I talked with my therapist about it today and she thinks its a bad idea. She says that the meds are working and that we have worked so hard to get me stable that she fears that if we take me off my meds that I am playing with fire.

I also posted this in the drugs forum but am not getting any hits so thought I would post it here to see if I could get more responses.

What do you think?

Jan

...yes... that's a good poijnt... and if you still are entertaining this idea, talk with your physician and see what he says about it also.

You may get more opinions, but I would make sure they also include those with some over-sight to your health in real life as well.

Peace and Strength,
Night

I actually think this might be a good idea jbug. A lot can change and it's good to listen to your body. I definitely would not do it without a Drs help, but if you are being monitored closely for any adverse changes and try one medicine at a time, I don't see it as a bad thing. I know someone who was very medicated, and needed it at the time but as things changed in her life, her meds did not change. When she went off of them, she found what she really needed. She's still on some meds, but not nearly what she used to be on and is feeling much better overall.

Keep us posted on how you're doing. And please be careful.
