The other day I noticed what seems like a cyst on the inside of my bottom lip. And when I say inside I don't mean on the layer of skin inside my mouth....I mean INSIDE my lip. Like I can feel it when I press on my bottom lip and it is rock solid.

Normally I wouldn't worry about things like this but I have been a smoker for about 8 years. I have already started to get those white spots on my gums and my dentist told me it's nothing to worry about, it's just like a callus from smoking, didn't say anything about it possibly being cancerous and they always went away after a few days.

But this thing is about 1 mm in diameter IN my lip and doesn't move when I push on it. Feels like it's on the tissue inside of my lip. Does this sound like something I need to have checked out or am I just overreacting?

im not sure what it could be however yea definitely get it checked out. Just dont over work your self because it could be a multitude of things. I understand your fear though, going through the same thing myself, you just gotta calm down and think ok...the doctors will figure it out. It could be a small as a bengin cyst or those really big deep in the skin pimples...i know i get these large bumps too and its just one of those and if you dont mess with it they go away. But yea get it checked cause you never know especially being a smoker. Note any other symptoms. Trouble swallowing? Any pain in the area? Hard chew? Fevers? Weight loss? Vomiting? Keep these all in mind when you go to the doctors. Note when you found it and how long you have had it. Dont mess with it though. touching it is going to possibly make it worse even if it is nothing to worry about. Good luck and let us know what happens.

anything that has well defined edges typically isn't cancer... cancer tumors spread out more flat (there are exceptions) and they infiltrate other tissues ... so to the touch a cancer would feel more like a fried egg shape and a cyst or noncancer would feel more like boiled egg...

also, mouth cancers tend to be "seepy" and almost all surface cancers tend to be discovered as semi-open wounds that don't heal...

it is probably an inflamed gland or cyst

Thanks guys. I am kind of a hypochondriac when it comes to stuff like this cause I'm so worried about my smoking (why don't I quit then I know). That's what my boyfriend said too. It feels like it's getting smaller now so that would make sense that its just inflamed or something.

Whenever something bothers me this much I always get it checked out because my own peace of mind is worth the trouble. I don't want to drive myself nuts (it's a short drive) by worrying about it. It usually turns out to be nothing.

Is it clear and hard? I get those a lot, from accidentally bitting my lip. It's fluid inside and it feels very annoying, but it goes away after about a couple of days.
