Ok...so, for the past week and a half (going on 2 weeks) everytime I get in a car (after about 15 minutes), I get sick.
It's not sick to my stomach. It's more like a headache and dizzy. If I take my eyes off the road whatsoever, my head starts spinning. Yesterday, we were sitting in a stopped car waiting for a train to pass and watching the train made me dizzy. As soon as I get out of the car, I am usually fine. Sometimes it takes a moment or two to shake off the dizzy feeling but eventually it subsides. About a week ago, I ran out of blood pressure meds (this was happening before). My blood pressure wasn't even sky high off the meds (126/82 at the docs yesterday), so I don't think it's related. I asked my doctor about it yesterday and she said I should have my eyes checked and if it was still a problem to come back. I am working on finding the money to get that done...but could it be something else? motion sickness - dramimine helps me with this. you can find it over the counter in the health and cold medications isle in your general or department store or at your local pharmacy and does not need a perscription. I would consult your doctor so that if you are on any other medications you will know how it interacts with the other medications. I used it with and without other medications with no problems.

It is motion sickness (good way to describe it). What disturbs me is its sudden onset. I've never experienced motion sickness before except in airplanes and amusement rides that simulate movement. I'm wondering why it just started happening. If I have changed something or developed something that is causing it.
Now, it is every single time I get into a car. I've used Bonine (same as drammine, without the sleepiness) for it in the past. no motion sickness isn't something you can cause. sometimes taking new medications can do it but within a couple weeks it stabilizes.
Years ago I used to be able to go in very high places and look down and have no prblem at all and now just getting on a chair to reach sends me shaking, heart thumping and so on. Motion sickness is the same way theres no age requirement, activity requirement. I have a friend who just sitting in a parked car in her driveway gave her motion sickness. Alot of people can't read in a moving vehicle others like me have to read while riding in a vehicle or they get sick. I don't like taking meds either. So I experiemented with all kinds of things until I found some things I could do. Like making sure I bring a drink with me, a book, music, whatever I can that will help trick my body into ignoring the motion of the vehicle moving. I don't watch moving trains right in front of me but instead I count the cars at a point down the tracks where it seems like they are moving slower. they aren't really moving slower but its an optical allusion because of the distance from me to that point. I also don't ride on an empty stomach. my body needing nutrients does cause me light headedness. so I take care of that before getting on the bus. It may take time but with experimenting and trial and error you will find what works for you in the meantime keep the bonnie handy. take care. |

This has just started happening recently. No new meds started when it began. Something has caused it. Whether it's age or a med interaction, I don't know. Hopefully a trip to the eye doctor will solve my questions.

I've decided it was a med reaction. Started my blood pressure meds again on Sunday and the motion sickness has gotten better each day. Pretty much gone at this point. Kinda makes me nervous about ever going off this med...though that is the goal someday. To be taken off all meds. Here's hoping.
