ack! oh no!
well YEAH you're scared! why wouldn't you be? holy moly! so they think that your heart is causing the weight gain? I wouldn't have guessed that, but then again, I'm just a software geek who works in my basement. Man, Brian - that is a huge bummer. I'll be sending you positive vibes over the next month or so, ok? ~~~~~ __________________ thatsallicantypewithonehand |

Do you have congestive heart failure and you're gaining water weight? My ex-mother-in-law lost 80 pounds of fluid overnight once they got her to the hospital (she was paranoid schizophrenic and wouldn't leave the house).

When we don't eat enough each day (minimum 1200 cal for women, it's more for men) the body STORES everything it takes in, as it doesn't know when it will get more fuel. (Goes into starvation mode.)
I eat one meal a day usually, but eat it in 2 portions... hours apart. Recently I've added oatmeal and walnuts for heart health. You need to drink lots of water...that is what gets rid of water weight (I know, it sounds backwards...but easy to find out if it's water weight..) I know some ppl only eat once a day.. but that's a fast food meal..and it's loaded with fat! (like 60 gms of fat in a whopper or such?) Not feeling hunger is a symptom... try some of the member's suggestions here, and if nothing helps, get a physical. TC, glad you were able to finally ask! __________________ |

I've been curious if that 1200 calorie minimum factors in if you're sedentary? Or is that the minimum if you ARE sedentary?

well to be honest. They have already done an ablation(a scope into the heart) and found 2 holes which they fixed. We were hoping that it was the problem but it wasn't.
The problem is, is that I have what they call orthostatic hypotention.(which means when I stand up my blood pressure drops and my heart rate increases). I also have been going into atrial fibrilation about every day now.(This is bad because it causes blood clots) The open heart surgery is mainly exploratory. They(my 2 cardiologists and my neurologist) can't explain it. I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences or know of someone who has. p.s. Cool sig Miss Jenn made for me huh? lol |

very kewl siggy!
I would surely keep after the doctor about your weight, they have to have some knowledge as to how to combat this, imo. I didn't go eat, didn't order in...just ate oatmeal. Maybe today since Ihave to go to therapies... I'll also go eat (and then again, I might be too fatigued.) __________________ |

I'm really struggling with boredom eating right now because it is my "reading week" at university.
Tomorrow I think I'm going to buy lots of soup so i can fill myself up on low cal soup when I feel like eating out of boredom. __________________ |

I ate:
- english muffin - coffee - tea - water - 1.5 cups of homemade fried rice (white rice, egg, broccoli stir-fried in a small amount of sesame oil) - 1 cup of cottage cheese not sure what we're doing for dinner. We just got a 2nd book but Alton Brown (I LOVE that guy) and my husband is reading it now looking for inspiration. I have a meeting tonight so he'll do the cooking and we'll eat when I get home. __________________ thatsallicantypewithonehand |

Pretty much the same things as before to eat. I seem to have hit a 5 pound weight loss plateau. I'm wondering if some of the fat is being replaced by muscle. I haven't checked it out by trying on a pair of jeans. I've been living in yoga pants since the weekend, and not because I feel fat but because they're comfy and presentable in public.

Blech.
I ate too much today. I've hit a plateau after only three weeks, so I just felt like "what's the point of trying?" Took in probably somewhere in the 1600 range. I need to keep it close to 1200. __________________ If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space! Rondeau |

I think I've been eating way too much these couple of days. I'm starting to wonder whether or not I really do want to do the things necessary to lose weight.
I really want to lose weight but it seems like I don't want to do the work to lose it. I keep wanting the easy way out, like diet pills or something. __________________ |

GL, I've always hoped for the "no effort" weight loss plan too. It doesn't exist. Changing your eating habits and exercise are really the only way to go, with the exceptions of Rx pills and surgery, which you wouldn't qualify for unless you were morbidly obese.
My efforts finally showed up on the scale this morning. I hadn't budged from the 125 mark in over a week. Yesterday afternoon I decided to let myself have an "eat whatever you want" night because I was frustrated with being so conscientious about what I was eating and not seeing any results. I stepped on the scale this morning and it read 123. I've lost 7 pounds in about 3-1/2 weeks doing things the right way. My motivation is back. Whooo hoooo!!!! __________________ If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space! Rondeau |

I was so feverish today on way to T, I stopped at a Bk and got a large coke with plenty of ice.. to cool me down. When T found out I hadn't eaten yesterday, he matter of factly stated that I hadn't bought any food when I stopped at BK. Well, I said I was feverish.
I did go get some soup and salad.. this afternoon. __________________ |

I went swimsuit shopping with my daughter yesterday. It wasn't tooooo traumatic, other than those damn dressing room lights. I found a Calvin Klein suit at TJ Maxx that I would have snatched up in a heartbeat, but it just didn't fit quite right. My torso was a tad too short. I found one at Target that I'm going to go back later and buy. I needed to try on the next-sized top and I didn't feel like getting undressed again.
I don't think I would have had the oomph to even look at suits 7 pounds ago, but I'm only 3 pounds over this past summer's weight now. __________________ If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space! Rondeau |
