The link between mental health and physical health is fairly well understood -- they are interrelated and one can and does directly affect the other. Most people recognize the mental disorder they're grappling with by at least some physical symptoms. For instance, people who are dealing with depression may find themselves tired, lethargic, and have difficulty sleeping. People with anxiety might find it difficult to breath during a panic attack, or feel restless and nervous.
The opposite is also true. People who have long term physical illnesses often suffer from related mental health issues as well. Someone battling cancer may feel depressed by the length and severity of the treatment. People with permanent disabilities often find it difficult to maintain a steady state of good mental health because their physical limitations are a constant difficulty. This forum is for you to discuss these issues, grappling with physical health issues and your mental health issues all in one place. I hope you find support and care in one another's sharing. Good luck and take care, DocJohn __________________ Don't throw away your shot. |

Now I have a place to talk about my migranes and hopefully others will be able to help me cope with the hurt of the pain that it causes.. <font color=purple>The way to love anything is to realize that it might be lost. - G.K. Chesterton <font color=purple> __________________ |

Thank you!!! Sometimes it really gets me down and frustrates me when my physical problems affect my abilities. What emotionally hurts the most is when it's hard to play with my kids the way I used to. There are some things that I just can't do anymore. I know that I will make good use of this forum in the future! Thanks again, doc.

Well, hereby I also want to say thank you to all studious members of this site who have provided it for our use. The main thing is that here are some people who have the problems we are right now dealing whth, or, at least, know our feelings well. Here we can see that everyone has his/her own personal problem and everyone suffers from something; it does not matter what it is.
Let's hope we all get rid of our problems and sufferings and improve our life. regards, Ahmad |

To all! Has anyone read the recent NIMH research report linking mental health issues and physical issues to a shorten life span. I believe NAMI has an article on it. Have any of you been told this? I have! Looking forward to some responses on this issue.

I am going to "jump" right in here ... NOW. I have a host of problems in both areas. For over 40 yrs I have been my caregivers of this fact. I think they were somewhat "aware" of this but did not know "how" to express their concerns.
Psychological issues cause "real" physical pain, and physical pain causes psychological issues. It is, and always will be, a vicious circle. As I grow older, the circle seems to get bigger. My main med Dx is Crhones Disease discovered in 1974. Emergency surgery saved my life. During my 30 day recovery in the hospital, I was told that Crhones is considered to be a "disease of anger." At that time I was a very angry person, but I had always "held it in." So who is to say??? Currently, I suffer from chronic bowel obstructions which require 3-4 days in the hospital, 4-6 times a year. Not pleasant! I will not continue to bore you with my med history, but it is expansive. Summarily, there isn't anything left in me that they can take out. I am a cancer survivor as well. My psych Dx is rapid cycling bipolar depression with suicidal ideation, and anxiety. The bipolar condition puts me in each day. With the right meds, I have survived and consider myself in recovery mode. However, some of my needs have been "cut". I no longer have a T, and I am finding this extremely difficult. I keep telling myself, "This, too, shall pass." Hope I am right. My Faith tells me it is. Everyone take care! and stay __________________ Remember, no matter how many times you go down ... come up for air! |

Im looking for a natural way to get rid of Gall Stones. All my Gp is interested in doing is sending me to a surgeon to get my Gallbladder cut out. Im currently still recovering from major surgery that only happened less than 6 months ago Oct 2013. plus 2 of my relatives- Father and grandmother had gallbladder surgery within the last 12months and still get gallstones plus my father now has complications because of this
ive tried vinegar in water /a high fiber milk / high fiber cereals/ apples/liquorice/ nuts and trying to eat foods that are gulten free fat free sugar free. in my quest to find these foods I have noticed that the foods that are supposed be natural have a lot of chemicals in them. any suggestions for healthly alternatives to biscuts /cookies? |
