You know that thing that hangs down-in between your tonsils-in the back of your mouth? Whenever I open my mouth to yawn it gets sore and painful. I'm getting over a sinus infection, do you think this has anything to do with that?

I found this...hope its helpful and you're feeling better soon

The uvula (more commonly known as "the little thing that hangs in the back of your throat") is made of muscle and connective tissue and is covered with the same mucous membrane that lines the inside of your cheeks and the roof of your mouth. Many things can cause a swollen uvula. The usual suspects include:

tonsillitis
bacterial or viral infections of the throat
allergies
trauma
It's possible, but rare, to have swelling without any of these other problems.

If it's a recent development, if it's accompanied by other symptoms (such as fever or pain), and/or if you're having problems with swallowing, talking, or breathing, it's best to get it checked by your health care provider.

Thanks Candybear (((((((Candybear))))))))
Mybestkids2, that information is helpful, thanks for pulling that up for me. ((((((((mybestkids2))))))))
It's not hurting as much but it's still hurting. I'm hoping if I manage not to yawn then it'll go away.
