A couple of days ago I was in the gym and I must have cut my finger while I was there. I didn't realise until I washed my hands afterwards and the cut stung. It's only small, on my thumb. But I was thinking that everyone else's sweat and germs will have got in and maybe worse stuff. Is it possible for hepatitis and HIV to be transmitted this way? It's something I keep thinking about :-(

IMO, it would be rare for you to get hepatitis and HIV, especially, HIV from a small finger cut at the gym. Maybe you can call or see a health professional to see what's going on. In the meantime, keep the cut clean with alcohol or something else and keep a clean bandaide on it. It will probably heal fast.

Cleanse it with hydrogen peroxide or alcohol or put bacitracin/polysporin on it, whichever you might have on hand, keep it clean, and cover with a bandaid. Those other illnesses are not spread that way, no worries.
