Anyone here deal with OAB? I've developed it over the last year, seen a doctor and they are baffled. I have to urinate sometimes 20 times a day, and I am starting to become urinary incontinent. I'm only 31 and the urologist says everything is normal. Now we're going for a neuro exam to check nerves.

I do. I spoke to my phychiatrist today and he believes its linked to my depression and anxiety along with the other physical pains in my abdomen.

What sucks about the hole deal is I'm in diapers for the most part because the urges are so sudden and fast I can't make it to the bathroom. I take it in stride. It really doesn't suck... I have gotten used to it and I don't let it bother me, but it was an adjustment to say the least. It really got ahold my depression and nose dived it for a bit, but I was able to pull myself out of it without adding meds or therapy. Overall things are good, but I wish we could figure out what is wrong or what happened. Hopefully its meds, but if not and this is a life long issue, I will just take it for what it is, and move on and live life.

See I don't have problems at night. Its really weird. I haven't wet the bed since I was like 12. But as soon as I get up the problems start. I don't know if its the meds that stop everything from working (seroquel) or what. It's strange.

This sounds like what I get. Sometimes I get very intense urges that make me lose my entire bladder as I run to the bathroom. It is very frustrating and embarrassing. Your case sounds really bad. I also started getting this problem at a young age. It is the gift my two bladder surgeries and all the Foley catheters I had gave me.

I cope by going to the bathroom regularly, avoiding excess caffeine and keeping myself hydrated. I find concentrated urine really aggravates the problem. Putting my hands in cold water also activates my bladder so I make sure I'm empty before I do anything that involves cold water.

It just seems whatever I do, it still plagues me and causes problems. To me I've gotten over the embarrassment part, but the depression is starting back up again. I don't have nocturnal issues at all, but as soon as I wake up I start having urges. I really hope its just a med or totally mental and not neuro or something else. Eh you win some and lose some.

HI
I know how you feel, I also have to wear diapers because of the same problem, But it seriously nothing to be ashamed about, If you go to like Rite-aid or walgreens to buy diapers you'll notice they are always almost sold out, Which means we are not the only ones that need them.

I had (have) this problem. It constantly felt as if I was coming down with a bladder infection -- urgency, burning and all the other symptoms except fever and chills.

Turns out the problem for me was caused by milk products. By avoiding milk in all forms, I'm okay. One little smidge of cheese or a single sip and the symptoms start. Milk is often hidden. Turns out whey, which is the clear-ish liquid part of milk, is added to many foods these days, especially baked goods. If I don't read labels closely I'll be feeling uncomfortable soon.

From what I've read, milk is a frequent culprit if a person has a tendency toward bladder irritation. It didn't start bothering me until I hit somewhere around age 30. No idea what triggered it ... except maybe I O.D.ed on milk by consuming so much over so many years.

It would be worth looking at milk and other food triggers. I love milk in all forms and it was hard to give it up, but I strongly prefer to not feel my bladder every minute of the day. It was almost impossible to believe that something so bland could cause such irritation.

Here's a list of bladder irritants from Johns Hopkins. Milk is the only food on the list that bothers me.

I had this when I was taking Lithium. I couldn't leave the house because I needed to go to the toilet so often. I think several meds can cause this.

I'm not really ashamed about it, but being only 31 kinda of makes it suck lol.

I've been struggling with increased thirst, increased urination, and OMG, it seems like I'm in the bathroom all day. While I was at church this morning, I had one cup of coffee, and two small glasses of green tea. I didn't have to go to the bathroom when I left, but as I was riding the busses to get home, I didn't think I was going to make it to my final stop without having an accident on the bus! I'm definitely going to my doctor's office tomorrow.
