I just made an appointment to see a medical marijuana doctor. Why? Two reasons...
1. I have been taking Ativan for 20 years to assist with sleep. I have now gotten it down to about 1x per week. But still, I would prefer to have a better solution as there are known memory issues with that drug. It does work though. On my medical record it says I have "insomnia" and "mild sleep apnea". 2. My sister just starting taking medical marijuana 6 months ago, and dropped an insane 40 lbs. As it turns out marijuana is known for reductions in weight (google it) and she wasn't even trying -- at all. I just have to give this a shot. My state recently made recreational marijuana a thing but it is impossible to get near the dispensaries (due to so many people) and it seems like the medical places have better stock and better options. Also you can buy more. Has anyone had any experience with it? I am on my own here as I don't want my sister to know I am taking it and I don't want anyone else to. |

Well it went a lot better than I thought. I thought I would have to prove I had a medical condition but wow... there was no serious examination of that. I brought my medical records and honestly, I think he just threw them out. He basically saw himself as educating me one how to begin the process.
Before I even got home I had an e-mail with my certification and I signed up. It did cost a pretty penny but he seemed to indicate I can be reimbursed by my medical insurance. He said I should have a card within 2 weeks. Unfortunately it is completely overwhelming. He suggested that I either do a creme (with no high) or edibles which I can take a few hours before bed. I can't believe I am doing this. But.. |

Hi there.I just now saw your posts.
I am all for medical marijuana. It helps my anxiety(I have PTSD) more than anything else I have tried.I like that I can adjust my dose as needed and can use as little or as much as I need without the fear of ever overdosing. So have you actually used the stuff yet?Or are you waiting until you receive your card? |

It’s not legal in my state. But it just became legal as recreational in a state I frequently go to on vacation. My uncle gets it for medical reasons. I was thinking of trying some when I go there in the summer. I just don’t know if it will interfere with any of my meds.
I’ve heard it works better then benzos and is safer. I’m not sure if that’s true or not. I think I saw it on a Facebook meme. But I am interested in trying it for my anxiety. __________________ I'm Blue |

Your state recently legalized too?
I plan on getting a medical cannabis card soon. I'm well convinced it will help with my difficulties with focusing and my anxiety issues. At least some of the not-so legal cannabis that I used to do used to help me. Only problem is that I have to find a doctor that prescribes it. As of now, I am limited to a nearby public mental health center, both because I'm low income and without insurance, and because there aren't too many doctors nearby and I don't drive, don't have the time to deal with the crappy public transportation where I live, and don't want to spend $20 on an Uber just to get to a doctor. If the mental health center cant prescribe it than I'll have to wait it seems. |

They recently legalized recreational but things are way too crowded there so I went with Medical which also lets you skip the tax.
Can't wait to start. But I don't feel like I can share this with anyone i know (including my sister because she is obnoxious about it) so you guys will be hearing it. |

Ya my state is so behind that they JUST NOW legalized medical, yet recreational is still illegal. Oh well, no law stops me from doing what I want anyways. The law can shove it lulz |

I just worry that money will be an issue. I don't have insurance and I can't see a doctor unless there is a doctor that would approve me for one with a sliding scale nearby since transportation is such a huge barrier for me right now. |

Could be. It was $200 for my visit. Plus the location was about an hour away. |

So I went.
Negatives. - though the inside was super ultra modern, the outside looked like someone dilapidated house. I don't know why they feel the need to hide these shops like porn shops. - all the cars in the driveway were junkers. - most of the people going in were your stereotypical pot heads and of course, all guys. - I felt a bit like a criminal as you had to stand outside and put up your id and card to get buzzed in. - It reeked. - I need a degree in pot to understand anything that is going on. Positives. -This particular dispensary is opening up near my home soon. I can literally walk there from my home. - the employees seemed to help me. - It seemed pretty cheap. - It wasn't crowded. In the end I got a creme which isn't supposed to make me high and I got edibles in a chocolate bar which will but it is a very low dose. |

So I am irked. I did take less of the dose than they told me to.. 2.5 mg. rather than 5 mg... but nothing happened at all. I don't think I got high, I had a terrible night sleep, and it is possible that I ended up with more anxiety than I should have. I think I was so busy looking for effects I got anxious.
The only potential things was that I laughed more at a movie I was watching (or maybe it was just funny) and I seemed better able to lie on my back without restless legs. Which usually is a serious problem when I am not sleepy. Also, I got an edible and it reeked of pot. And it tasted like pot too. So I don't think I will ever buy that excuse again that someone "didn't know" because it is seriously obvious. I will try the creme tonight because that doesn't get you high. |

So tonight I am going to take a bigger dose of the pot candy bar and see if it does anything. Apparently there are some people who cannot get high of editable. It would be just my luck.
But it is looking like this whole thing is a zillion times more complicated than I thought it was going to be. It is looking like I will either have to vape or smoke it. Then there are particular strains that you need to get... but, I would have thought it would be easy to get but... noooo you can search for a strain and find it only in ONE place in the whole state and also, not in the format that you want. Ie.. flower rather than vape cartridge. I will be seeing my sister tomorrow and we can compare notes. I didn't want to tell her but, it is getting so complicated I need someone who knows what they are doing. |

Ya there are so many different strains of cannabis, with each one having a different effect, that the whole cannabis thing can get really confusing.
I sometimes have to rely on my friend for advice because he's much more knowledgeable than I am. |

I ended up watching some you tube info on it and it was helpful. Perhaps because of its illegality but I can't get over how lame the information is on line that is written. Routinely people will comment with better information than the written article. |
