With dehydration and blood pressure issues and dizziness?
I remember after an episode in the hospital I was restrained to the bed and my blood pressure dropped or went up or something and I had the blood pressure machine just left on one arm and every 15 minutes the staff would take my vitals and then give me sips of Gatorade and I just felt really sick for about an hour. But I remember the Gatorade helping me. That was in 2007 and while the event is still kinda traumatic I’ve noticed lately that with my health issues drinking Gatorade really does makes me feel better.

I don't know for sure but I know it has electrolytes which I am sure helps with dehydration at least.

I keep pedialyte in the house. (They sell packets like crystal lite, at the drugstore in the childrens meds section.) Your blood pressure is dependent on your sodium and potassium levels being balanced (not equal, but balanced for them). Also, like your personal electrical charging system - sorry i dont know the technical terms, but if one drops and the other is too high, then its like your pluses are too high and your minus charges are too low, and your electrical activity (brain) can stop. Thats why bulimia is dangerous? It disrupts your electrolyte (sodium & potassium) balance.
From what i see of your diet, it looks high in sodium and low in potassium on average, so i can see that gatorade would make you feel better. I probably overdo the potassium somewhat, but my blood tests are always okay (like over the past 40 years) so i am probably doing something right, re my meds n all. But yeah, gatorade was also recommended to me by EMT's when i called 911 puking and pooping. I was like, hey if i could walk to the corner gas station 100 feet away, i wouldnt be calling 911. Ive had an exciting life! |

Gatoraide has been recommended to me, in the past, when I'm detoxing from alcohol basically to counteract the nonstop throwing up.
I've never heard it used for low blood pressure - that's interesting. I have low blood pressure and often feel dizzy. I may talk to my Dr. about it. splitimage

If you are not actually an athlete it can be bad for you, all that extra sodium and sugar will add weight.

I could eat on chemotherapy, was not throwing up, etc. but the chemicals disrupted my electrolytes (essential minerals). I even received a potassium IV drip at one point. I noticed that Gatorade, electrolyte powders and Propel helped. I like Propel the best because it doesn't have a lot of added sugars (though the unnatural sweetener in it, might not be good--I reason this because diet drinks are so bad for us) but we only need these special drinks when there are things going on in our life like strenuously exercising, having sweaty fevers, health issues etc.
