I am truely getting scared for my health.

I made an appointment for my obgyn.. an in person appointment I would have to wait until June.. so I went with a video appointment.

When the time came the app failed and I coudln't connect. I called the doctor's office abut they said that they couldn't do it by phone because the doctor had to move on. AHH what? I had an appointment, this was my appointment time? What do you mean the doc had to move on.

Ok fine they set up an appointment by phone yesterday. I wait by my phone. No call. I call the office and they tell me she with someone and she will get to me when she can. Ok I see, when it is MY appointment she has to move on, but when someone else is there I have to wait.

No one ever called. No one called to tell me we would have to reschedule. No one called at all. I will be making sure they don't bill me for an appointment.

I made an appointment with a dermatologist for October (first available) I asked to be on the wait list, which typically opens up within a few weeks... Nope. I have never heard a thing. Really? Are you telling me in 4 months no one has canceled?

I just can't believe no one called me yesterday.

I am sorry no one called.
apart from my current doctor wishing covid on me, I have had missed calls, I have had calls that are way to short, miss diagnoses, been mixed up with another patient, even had them say they won't see me because I'm not worth their time.

Maybe it’s an OB/GYN thing LOL. I saw a new one in October she was pregnant and going to go on maternity leave and we talked about something to help with my menopause symptoms. I still smoke so I understand there are things that are off-limits for me. But I did do my research. We agreed on the Femring and if you know anything about that you know where it goes. She said she absolutely wanted me on progesterone because it’s sort of cancels out a cancer risk. Then I had to pick a different doctor for the annual that came up recently in January. Even though she was recently back from maternity leave it was the appointment I scheduled. I thought she was very nice until she made the comment that she wouldn’t have prescribed the Femring or anything to a smoker. The first doctor that went on maternity leave and I talked about the smoking. And she told me how many cigarettes she thought I should work on cutting down to. I had told her when I started the appointment that I was at five cigarettes a day which coming from somebody that smoked two packs is pretty good. She asked me to eliminate one and when I saw her again we would continue working on it. That’s why I was surprised and kind of annoyed that the replacement doctor had that to say about what was prescribed to me by another doctor. I had sent this replacement Dr. a message through our portal and let her know that I also started using the Pacha nicotine replacement gum. I was thinking she’d be pretty impressed or at least pleased. This ring stays in you for 90 days at a time. I called the office for a refill of my progesterone and a day later I got a call from one of the office girls telling me that neither one of them would continue to prescribe it to a smoker. So now I have this ring in me and no progesterone. I’m super annoyed. Now i have to call them back and ask “do i take it out and have all the horrible stuff start up again” do i leave it in until
The 90 days and then what? I get it smoking is bad and stupid. The last month and a half has been chaos. Moving my daughter and her son out of the ex bf apartment because of DM. Temp restraining order and then that hearing with a judge who clearly automatically doesn’t believe women (and we had a lawyer) it was dismissed. Then trying to get a car back that she owns but was tricked into being a coborrower on the loan meanwhile hes got no license and isnt on the loan. Asked for police help and it was a waste of time…. Sorry sidetracked. Anyway im starting tp think that some doctors don’t give a **** about helping and only think about liability and have forgotten we are dealing with a pandemic.

Gyn virtual appointment? How can gyn perform exams virtually? So are they just going to do a video chat? That’s the craziest thing I ever heard.

Things are all backwards. Sadly my gyn retired. I’ve been with him forever. He gave me names of gyns he recommends. I trust hum that’s they are good. Guess what they are so booked that they don’t take new patients. Makes sense if they are good. I now have no gyns and am overdue for the check up but I won’t go to any random gyn as I had some awful experiences. I have some ongoing gyn issues so I do need to have a regular gyn. I guess eventually I’ll go to whoever. Stresses me out

And my dentist keep rescheduling my appt. This is third time. It’s now in March but originally it was supposed to be in November. It’s for a crown. Luckily not an emergency

To be honest, I don't think I need an appointment at all but IMHO this is a money grubbing doctor / institution which won't let me ask a question without an appointment.

All I want is to get set up for an ultrasound. But apparently she wanted to hear "why". But it has been 3 months since I asked for an appointment so- she probably should just do it.

I don't see how anyone can get reasonable medical care when it takes months to get an appointment and then the doctor doesn't show.

I don't know if this is the same thing but since covid happened the medical system has been really backed up and it can take a long time to get into see a doctor. I've been waiting for a call for a week to set up an appointment to see a blood doctor who is booked out for 3 months. And I've just been waiting for a phone call to set up the appointment and its been a week.

I am in doctors office now (thankfully my GP works Saturdays) and they have rap music blasting. I think it’s something on tv, I can’t see the screen from what I sit. No disrespect but don’t they need something more neutral in the background?

For me getting appointments with my GP and psychiatrist have been no problem, they're both only doing phone appointments except for my GP who sees patients in person 2 days a week for stuff that can't be done by phone. I had to see a dermatologist last year, and got in with no problem within a couple of months which I thought was reasonable. But I've been trying for over 2 years to get into see a cognitive neurologist. My GP literally put in a referral request Dec. 2020, and I didn't hear anything for a year, but wasn't too keen on going out with Covid so I just let it slide. Then I got her to put in the referral again in Dec. 2021, and when I hadn't heard anything in a month I called the Dr's office and they told me she was so backed up that they couldn't even give me an estimate on when they might be able to schedule an appointment. They said they'd return the referral to my GP along with the name of another Dr. who might see me, but once again I haven't heard anything, so I'm following up witth my GP today. It's frustrating.

I went to urgent care today because my ear felt full. Good news... they got out the wax on the ear that seemed full and I think they solved the problem.

But the girl cleaning the ears pushed too hard examining the other side and that kind of hurts. Hoping no damage done.

And then I did my good byes with her (the girl cleaning out the ears)... even said, have a good weekend... and left. No one said I needed to stay for the doctor.

Now I read my notes at home and the doctor was supposed to re examine the ears and the notes says she called me but could not reach me. Urrr. I have no messages. Not even on my work phone.

What is happening with medical care?????????

Another poor doctor story. Went to the dermatologist yesterday, I thought the recommendation was every year for mole checks but I guess that has been changed.

At any rate it has been at least 3 years. So had my check and she seemed to scold me for even caring.

She actually laughed at me and said something to the effect that I don't need checks every year at 50!

What? 50 is old? I could see her saying that if I was 30. In my case it is even more necessary because I live alone and can't see anything on the back of me.

I also asked if I could have some of the benign moles removed.. she goes, well insurance won't really pay for it and there is nothing wrong. Ie. they aren't bleeding or anything.. but one has formed on my neck and it looks nasty. I was annoyed because I have a Flex health account that I need to spend down so .. that was my thinking.

I guess I am just going to ignore her because I really don't care what she thinks... this is my only life and if my insurance pays for the appointment (or even if it doesn't) that is my business.

But I am just stupified... medicine has gotten so bad. The entire waiting room was filled with elderly people over 70. It was like I was telling her I was wasting her time.

My practice sometimes sends me evaluations this one will a doozy.

I got the same reaction from my derm, like i was nuts for even asking. Maybe the message is meant for people who were avid suntanners or who live in california. Not for us pasty white computer nerds! There was a comic about such some years ago in Doonesbury, where three characters were depicted in varying shades of stark white to light green.

Here in Ottawa, Ontario the wait is really long if one needs to attend a specialty clinic. My family doctor referred me to one such clinic for a skin biopsy. The clinic called and told me the wait was between 12 to 16 months. I suspected there would be a wait but not one that long.

I may look elsewhere and even pay to see a dermatologist.

The pandemic really revealed how bad healthcare is in Ontario.

That is insane.

The way I got my dermatologist appointment is this.. when I called to make it they told me they weren't available until October... but I could go on the waiting list.

So when someone canceled I could get their appointment.

Of course.. now, instead of my being able to make an appointment when it is best for me... this helps the doctors to fully utilize their day and schedule when it is best for them. I got notice 1 day before the appointment and had to drop everything if I wanted it.

In the long run i think this does a disservice because I didn't have time to really think about all the issues.

How odd. My dermatologist absolutely insists I come in annually for skin checks (and in between if anything crops up). But I have rosacea and she's already removed several precancerous places -- I have a family history of skin cancers (that German skin) and my father has a rare skin disease, so she says I am the type of person that absolutely needs to be checked carefully every year.

I haven't particularly had problems getting appointments to doctors and specialists in our area fortunately. I set my appointments way ahead though for routine checks like with my dermatologist and dentist, etc.

We have to put our lives on hold to see a doctor. They should pay for transportation to and from the office and time off work.

I was told to put my name on the cancellation list. I'll do that when they call me with an actual appointment date. Right now MyChart states "You have an upcoming AMB REFERRAL TO GYNECOLOGY from your visit with (name of my GP), MD." -- This is a clinic that specializes in skin disorders that affect the nethers.

I have a skin problem that is believed to be due to autoimmunity. It's in my armpits and genital area, so a regular dermatologist could deal with the not-so intimate area. I'm going to ask my doctor when I see her in 2 weeks about this.

My doctor offered another option, but I wasn't too keen on it, since it involves a very unpleasant test.

They called and I got into see the blood doctor a few days later and I've had a couple appointments and one procedure. My kidney doctor I got an appointment immediatly as a new patient which scared me but my bloodwork was very off. I can't get into see the gastro doctor until July but thats not an emergency. My place goes off blood work and if something is off you get in fast. If the bloodwork is fine you wait.

I logged into MyChart on Thursday and discovered the appointment I mentioned in a previous post is scheduled for April 13th, 2023 at 8:30 am.

The last time I saw my doctor I asked for another referral but in the community rather than the hospital. She told me she would refer me to a clinic that is in the same building as my doctor's office. If this consultation is able to diagnose my skin problem I will cancel the hospital appointment.
