I'm feeling really lucky. I've been having problems with chronic upper back pain for about 18 months now and it's really debilitating.

I talked with my family Dr. about what we could try next, and she suggested an orthopaedic sports medicine specialist.

I thought the referral would take a couple of months, but I managed to get an appointment for April 7.

I'm really hoping he'll be able to help.

@splitimage wow that is fast. Hope you get some relief.

I sometimes have to resort to managing things in my head like this Mindfulness and Chronic Pain - YouTube

or this Jon Kabat Zinn - Chronic Pain - YouTube

Hoping for the best outcome for you @CANDC

@CANDC

Yes, I've been trying to manage the pain with mindfulness, with some success butt it's still new to me. So thank you for the links, particularly to the the Kabat-Zinn one. I quite like him. I'll definitely check both links out.

@splitimage glad you are using mindfulness.

I have been finding sending loving kindness to myself and others helps me feel better. This is by Kristin Neff who is well known for work in compassion but is 21 minutes. But nice spacing https://youtu.be/9cxtdiXBQDk

I have some other ones on loving kindness PM me and I will give you them. @CANDC or I can post here.

Ive been having a twinge in my right knee the last couple of days. For some reason only my right house shoe picked up some styrofoam peanuts (no awards for housecleaning here!) on the bottom and they seem to act as an orthotic, as my knee is no longer hurting!

Hope you will be feeling better soon

Well I had my appointment yesterday and it was a mix of bad news/good news,

The bad news is that in addition to the fractured vertebrae I have a fair amount of arthritis in my upper spine. As a result my muscles are overcompensating for my spine which is making them tight and inflamed and that's what's causing the pain.

The good news is there's an easy fix. the Dr. said if I did 15 min. of stretching every day it should clear up the problem in 2 - 3 months. I can do it at home, it's free and it's noninvasive. He did offer me pain meds, but I said no. I'm on too many meds already for me to want to risk adding another one to my mix, particularly one that might be addictive. But he also said, if I needed it, I could get injections to block the pain, but I don't think I need that. I just need to be disciplined about the stretching.dd
