Now I have to do a colonoscopy. Not worried think it's polyps and false positive. I'm more annoyed I don't want a colposcopy at all. no family history feel like it's a waste of time. feel like I'm being forced to take a test i want nothing to do with.

I've had two of these. So you have my sympathy. The test itself isn't difficult. But the prep isn't pleasant.

It’s not pleasant but my mother died of colon cancer and she didn’t do colonoscopies. When they found it because she was already sick, it was already stage 4. Please go do colonoscopy. Your family don’t know what they are talking about Last edited by divine1966; Nov 01, 2022 at 05:11 AM.. Reason: Trying to add trivet and it’s not working so I added trigger to the whole post |

My suggestion is that you ask for an easy prep. I asked for Mirilax and Gatorade and they did it. It is a less miserable prep because it tastes pretty good. The "expensive" preps that they give you have a lot of salt and I think it makes people sick.
I got a lot of good suggestions to make it easier over on the reddit colonoscopy board. I think the base directions are not helpful. For me the prep was the worst part. The procedure was easy. They gave me "sedation" but it didn't work. But as it turned out... it wasn't bad at all. I had a few moments of discomfort when they would go around a corner... but it wasn't bad at all. I got to watch my colon on tv and I ended up having some polyps. They made me stay for 15 minutes after the procedure because they seemed to think I was sedated but I was not. I have to do it again this year and I will be less miserable about it. |

Hey Aviza I understand your feelings on this, it happened to me too. Everyone is different and it’s hard to know what’s going on without an investigation, only then can you know if it’s something to worry about or not.
I dreaded mine, in the end the prep was the worst for me too, the procedure was okay. I was clear but sometimes even if it’s just polyps they’ll take a sample or remove, because they can develop into something else sometimes. You’re doing the right thing getting checked out and hopefully all will be fine. |

My GP sent me for colonscopy a year ago. You can have some sedatives if you feel nervous. By the way there is no pain with this. Everything went well with me. Hope it will be well with you as well! __________________ Never forget to structure your days! Be responsible: Paddle your own canoe in all circumstances! |

I've had a number of colonoscopies, since my mother had colon cancer and an aunt did. Just be prepared to sit on the pot a lot after taking the laxative product. I agree about products such as Miralax. The "go-litely" stuff didn't work well for me. The test itself is not a big deal, as folks are saying. I even got to see pictures of the inside of my colon. Ha! A friend of mine died at age 54 of colon cancer. She'd never had a colonoscopy, but started recommending that everyone get them. It could be you just have hemmorhoids (sp?) . They could explain blood in your stool. I've had that problem. Honestly, it's not the most exciting thing to go through, but it could be a great relief to you and even a life saver! Okay? |

my dr says the colorguard test is way more accurate than previous years and there's a 50 percent chance of having cancer. I mentioned it may be hemmorimoids. Anyway if I do and die I've lived my life. But I'm not really concerned.

As for pain, I did feel the camera going around a few corners but it was a brief crampy twinge, nothing comparable to childbirth for example. |

Dear one, there's a 50% chance you don't have cancer. That can be comforting, if looked at positively. Please let us know. We're here for you if you need or want our support.
