I feel sick about this!
I had been having some back pain. Went to doctor. Was prescribed anti inflammatories and told to go to Physical Therapy. Dr. never mentioned what she thought was wrong. I am not a fan of drugs (I am getting into holistic, and natural) so at first I was mad about that. I went online trying to diagnose myself and was hoping to get an MRI because that has no radiation.

I called the doctor's office trying to get an MRI. Doctor put in order for spine and hip xray. I wasnt' going to get it. Then eventually I just gave in and went but wasn't happy about it! When I get there, the technician says the order is for 6 xrays! I was already there so I just got them taken. (I also had a mammogram the same day!)

I am now afraid I am going to die of cancer. It is to the point where it is the first thing I think of when I wake up! I somehow think if I google enough online it will make the whole thing go away. Then I remember I can never make it go away! I have just subjected myself unnecessarily to radiation. I now know why the doctor originally didn't order them! I do have some back and hip issues which the xrays showed but it doesn't really change the treatment.
The technician tells me that I will get more radiation walking to my car. Yeah right! I am tired of the medical community and do not trust any of it anymore! I wish they would of explained to me this or something. I knew xrays were bad but not this bad!
I have been trying to eat antioxidants, whatever i can. I am in somewhat fair/good health but have pre cancer type issues! I feel as though I just gave myself a death sentence!
Anyone have any experience with this1/

I have a degenerative disk in my back which also affects my hip as well as causes groin pain. I couldn't walk without a cane at one point. The emerg doc gave me anti-inflammatories, my family doc told me to go to physiotherapy... the physiotherapist suggested an X-ray to pinpoint the issue, so the doc ordered one. I had it done.

The thing is is that I tend to blow health issues up in my mind. I don't know if it's the OCD I have or what, but my mind goes to the worst places and causes me needless worries.

I can commiserate with you.

On one hand, I'd suggest less googling medical issues... and instead speak directly to your doc about your worries... do you have a psychologist to talk to? That also might help, along with CBT techniques.

I really don't think you have cancer from the X-rays you had; however, antioxidants are pretty much always good, so keep on with the appropriate foods.

You also might want to explore the book called The Juicing Bible. Not only are there recipes for juice you can make, but there's also descriptions of the components of veggies and fruit, such as contains vitamin E, or is an antioxidant, etc. But the old adage everything in moderation might be appropriate...

Try not to worry... I know that is easier said than done... But really, try not to worry... have an antioxidant-rich juice and go for a walk.

Hugs, if wanted.

Thanks for replying!
I also have pain near groin. Did anti-inflammatories work for you? I am taking Meloxicam. I don't want to take any more drugs but at this point I don't know what to do. It takes 4 days to kick in. Then when it kicks in, I stop taking it for about 4 days, then start again.
I am looking for an infrared sauna now. I heard it is good with getting toxins out? Worth a try!

The noninflammatory I was on was naproxen, but there was something else and the name escapes me at the moment.

I didn't find that they helped much.

What did help was the light/heat pad and especially the acupuncture at physiotherapy. When they gave me an extra long session of acupuncture, it really helped a lot and I could walk without the cane in the following days.

I hear a lot of good things about infrared saunas! That should be interesting to try!

I think there is a chart on the internet someplace which will give you an idea of xray radiation compared to other things (such as taking a plane trip) Dental Imagery Radiation Facts | Seymour Dental - Dedicated personal care

But xrays are by far the least amount of radiation. I had to have 2 or 3 every three months when I was a kid. For scoilosis.

I am still here.

You mentioned getting rid of toxins. "Detoxification" Schemes and Scams | Quackwatch will be helpful reading for you.

I do not know if the groin issue is still relevant, but if it is:

Meloxicam is a good strong anti-inflammatory, but you need to be mindful of the possible gastric damage and always take it with food and not on an empty stomach. You can often get the same benefit from the topical anti-inflammation gel which acts only on the area you need to treat without getting into you GI tract and causing systemic side effects. You can buy Voltaren gel on Amazon. I do not know, though, whether it would work next the groin. It will be best to consult with a real doctor about that.

@NatalieJastrow: an excellent post! You are still here. To many more years of being still here.

Thank you for the link. However, I am leaning more towards the holistic approach now. We have been scammed and brainwashed by doctors and the CDC for years.
Meloxicam works but I try to stay away as much as I can, but then resort to having to take it every so many days.

Scammed and brainwashed by CDC and doctors? In which way? I don’t have any evidence of being scammed. What’s your evidence? Is this a conspiracy theory that doctors are out to get us?

You are exposing yourselves to many real scams which abound in the so called holistic health realm (note that the word holistic cannot even be defined as appied to health) by your belief in conspiracy theories and being scammed by doctors and the CDC. You are also undermining your ability to obtain effective evidence-based care for your physical and mental ailments. I hope you will eventually, for your own benefit, drop your conspiracy theories and subscribe to evidence-based approaches and true science. Until then I will stay out of pointless discussions, though, to save your time and mine.
