I haven't even looked at mine yet but my whole toe hurts badly and I'm just waiting for it to pass and I'm not telling anyone even my mom because I've had so many random medical issues lately.
So will this just go away on its own? __________________ I'm Blue |

Sometimes it might go away. Soak your foot in warm water with maybe epsom salt. Don’t wear tight shoes.
I don’t think it’s dangerous but if it doesn’t go away on its own, you’d need to go see someone about it to get it done. It could get inflamed and infected otherwise |

There's also the possibility of it being gout.
Gout is painful and the entire big toe hurts. It is often diet related, such as too much alcohol or soda, some medications, and some foods (especially high purine foods). It is most often seen in middle age or older. Hurts like hell. |

IME, they never go away. I had surgery on the outer corners of my big toes. It was gross. The recovery process was the grossest. You have to dig into the groove with a stick to help it heal. A disconnected piece of nail came out once, sooooo gross. Mine came from wearing pointy toed shoes which were stylish but did not fit my feet. I didnt really understand. It was a problem from childhood IIRC. Plus you never want to ignore a foot problem, esp an infection.

It can be dangerous, especially for people (like me) with diabetes. If that doesn't apply to you, then that's good, but if it does, you really need to be careful. You can try the soaks as suggested, but if it continues to hurt, speak up, and seek medical advice. There is no reason to put up with anything painful.

As said, it can sometimes be okay if it’s minor, like just a sharp edge caught in the skin but keep an eye out as it might need attention or antibiotics if it gets infected. Oh boy it can really hurt.
