Worth an opinion?

Caught a football wrong 2-3 weeks ago, pinky was super purple when I looked at it later that night but didn't hurt and I could easily straighten it. I couldn't bend it all the way, but trying didn't hurt. It's not bruised anymore, but it's still pretty swollen and now it does hurt if I play guitar or bend it all the way (doesn't hurt when it's straight though).

I kinda don't want pain when I play guitar and would rather wait out a heal time than see a doc, and sometimes that works but sometimes you screw up your hip skiing and have issues with it for 5+ years.

I'm sorry you are in that situation. Wish I knew what to say to help.

When I go to the doctor after an injury, it is not usually for the purpose of healing but for the sake of making sure an injury heals properly. I have had injuries heal badly which left me with additional problems. But that's just me. I cannot really offer advice. I hope your finger gets better soon!!!

Yup, give it another week or two it should be okay. When you can play the guitar again pain free, the healing process will be complete🙏

The fact that you can move it means the joints aren't dislocated. If you do the RICE protocol, it should be okay in a couple of weeks. RICE = Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. The ice should be indirect (inside a thin towel) and applied only for 20 minutes at a time.

Recently, another letter was added to that RICE protocol, but I don't remember it.

I showed my pdoc this morning (I bent it and she wanted to know why I made a face). She looked at it, and now I have an appointment at the clinic in a couple hours. She said it looks dislocated.

Ugh now I have to wait around and find shyt to do because there’s no point in going home just to come back.

I once had a dislocated finger. There was no way I could move it. But I guess there are degrees of severity....

Anyway, I hope it was taken care of!
