I've been feeling sick all day and since like 2 I've been throwing up everything and I've had this bad heartburn all day and I've tried everything.

I took my blood pressure a couple times but I took it 10 minutes ago and it was 171/102.

Is that bad? I also have jaw and shoulder pain and I feel weak in general.

I just started a new med yesterday that has a serious interaction with my Geodon.

Hey, I'd suggest you get it checked out... im saying this as mines was 196/123 and there are implications that come with high blood pressure. I'm now on 2 blood pressure tabs I'm under the care of the Cardiovascular Team at my local hospital and I take a chloestrol tab too!

It would be really sensible to go straight to your ER or Accident & Emergency department with this, just to be on the safe side and get checked out. At the very least call your Doctor's reception and explain your symptoms, and ask their advice - I would hope they would tell you to get checked out immediately. It's far better to seek professional advice than sit worrying. I am sure they will look after you quickly and get your situated treated effectively.

Best wishes,

It’s still too high for your age. You need to see a doctor immediately if not going to the hospital. It’s not ok

I took it last night for the first time all day and it was 150/100. I didn't have any caffeine. My mom just said take it again tonight and that I'm too focused on my health.

150/100 is still too high

Do you consume a lot of sodium?

No one really cares anymore to be honest. Like my insurance company called on Friday and cancelled my CT scan for tommorow. So I'm kinda on my own now. I'm focusing on just losing weight and excercising and ignoring all the other stuff.

Losing weight might be the least of the problems. You sound very sick past several months

I am obese, relatively fit, and 102 is my systolic blood pressure. If I had 102 diastolic, I would go see a doctor right away. Losing weight may or may not lower your blood pressure. I agree that it is now the least of your problems. You put too much stock in the number on the scale. That level of hyperfocus can leave you blinded to other and more important issues and lead to obsessiveness. If you absolutely cannot imagine living without having goals in terms of numbers, get a baseline Dexa scan and start working towards improving your muscle mass and bone density, slowly. It is a much more worthwhile pursuit that just lowering the number on the scale which can actually come from wasting away muscle tissue. But all of that is longer term and your currently being sick and hypertensive is an acute issue requiring medical attention.

With your mother saying you pay too much attention to your health, it is a boy who cried wolf story. Right now, your hypertension is a real wolf. You need to be seen.

Don’t know what you mean by “nobody cares”. You tell your doctor and you measure blood pressure in the doctor office and they won’t care your blood pressure is dangerously high???

Are you measuring it correctly? Go to a clinic and let them measure

My clinic has just switched to measuring twice in a row for a more accurate read, but if you follow the guidelines for measuring at home, you actually need 3 readings in a row and take the median. Also, you need to sit quietly for 5 minutes before measuring. Lastly, you need a cuff. Wrist monitors are inaccurate. A real cuff is needed.
