I am at extreme high risk for diabetes. My mom, sisters, both grandmothers, several aunts and uncles are diabetic. While I was pregnant with my daughter, I developed gestational diabetes. I weight 200 lbs and it keeps going up no matter what I try.

I ride 16 miles on a bike twice a week and take walks with my neighbor daily. I am constantly chasing around a toddler and barley have a chance to sit and rest.

I have taken my docs advice and cut calories to the point that I am passing out because my blood sugar is dropping too low. They tell me in the ER that I need to eat more due to my hypoglycemeia.

I kept a food diary for months. I measure out my serving sizes to make sure I am not over eating. I am eating so little I am almost not eating at all. My doc today tells me I am cheating or I need to cut my calories more.

I don't know what to do. I lose five pounds then In a week or so I gain that back plus five more. This pattern over and over. Over time this has equalled a huge weigt gain. Two years ago I weighed 150 which is a healty weight for me.

Doc wants me to see a diaticin again. My insurance won't Pay because I am not diabetic yet. I have to wait until I become diabetic. This is stupid. (Medicare does not pay for prevention they told me) They payed for me before only while I had the gestational diabetes.

My self esteem keeps sinking lower and lower. I can't even stand to look at my self in the mirror. I look like a cow. I can't go grocery shopping or eat in public because I feel like people are watching me eat or looking in my cart thinking she needs to lay off the "twinkies and get off the couch" I refuse to grocery shop at all. I can't stand the looks I get. I did not do this to myself. My body is working against me and the dmb doc won't listen or believe me.

I have hypothyroid which according to the blood work is in control. So he won't go up on my synthroid. I also have asthma, bipolar, irritable bowel syndrome

Please, anyone have some helpful suggestions for weight loss.

Hi twirls01,
I'm sorry you are struggling. It sounds as if you are starving your body. That will cause your metabolism to drop drastically and your body will hold on to everything it gets because it doesn't know when it will get food again.

You should be eating every 3 hours or so. Once your body realizes that you are going to treat it well, it will relax a bit and you will start losing.

One good thing you can do for your body is get a juicer. Juicing vegetables will help give your body the nutrition it needs. If that's not a possibility, at least add lots of different color veggies to your diet. And eat! Vegetables are low in calories, so good for you and your body will thank you.

If you are interested, PM me and I can give you a list of things that will help. You will have to really push your body in the beginning, but you can lose the weight you need to.
