My blood pressure just took a dramatic jump......say 205/111. The doctor put me on caduet.

Does anyone else have high BP? If so what do you take? Have you had any side effects? Have you had to modify any of your psych meds because of it?

Thanks everyone!

Blood pressure Blood pressure Blood pressure Blood pressure

My previous dr.. "played" with meds for a year.. for my blood pressure.. which can happen..

I switched drs... and Norvasc.. is what I take.. it brought it down.. within 3 weeks.. and mine was as high as yours.. though at the time I wasn't on any psych.. meds..though.. it works fine with my psych meds... now..

thru the last 7 years... these things dramatically impact my blood pressure..

Because I have an eating disorder... it becomes apparent..more so.. than.. probably other people..

so.. when "good".. in my eating disorder... I eat no sugar, salt.. and my blood pressure drops very low.. because.. of the med.. it counters.. the "bad foods effect"..

calcium/magnes/vit D supplement... also when I am able to take it.. drops my blood pressure..

fresh fruit... apples.. bananas... peaches.. when I am able to eat these.. drops my blood pressure...

have you checked.. to see if any of your psych meds.. cause high blood pressure...

and.. did your dr.. give you a reason.. for the jump???

thinking of you....

Caduet is for high blood pressure (Norvasc) AND high cholesterol (Lipitor) together so you only have to take one pill so there is probably more going on with you than just high blood pressure.

What did the doctor tell you?

Some of the possible psychiatric "adverse" effects include: sexual dysfunction, insomnia, nervousness, depression, abnormal dreams, anxiety, depersonalization.

Yes, there actually is more going on..... Due to my depression I fight a daily battle with my suicidal ideation, so sometimes I think that a "natural" death...say a heart attack, wouldn't be that bad....

Last year I had a fasting cholesterol test and the results were less than great. Over 300 total, 255 bad and we actually never got to the good....go figure Blood pressure
My doctor wanted me on lipitor ASAP, Well, that depression thing got in the way and I didn't fill the Rx.

Enter the spike in blood pressure. Now for me a heart attack would be an okay way to go, my dad died of one in his thirties. But a stroke??? With my luck, I would be permanently disabled and doomed to an existence I could do nothing about.....

Sad isn't it? (In that, "what is she crazy?" kind of way) I am such an a_ _.

Oh my gosh Fuzzy.....no way... It is always supportive, in a sad way, that others can feel like you at times, and that they too can continue to survive.

Maybe together we can not only survive, but actually live.

PM me anytime Fuzzy, if you need to talk. I know how you feel... I really, really know how you feel..... Take care Fuzzy

And thank you for taking the time to post in my thread. Blood pressure

Ever since this PTSD started, my B/P has been running high 220/120 etc. I take Lisinopril 40 mg every night and lasix 40 mg twice a day to keep my B/P down to about 150/80.

I woke in the middle of the night, somewhat startled........ When I walked into the living room I decided to take my BP. It was 205/169.

I have decided to read up on what each number and find out why I had such a spike. I think it was because of the "way" I woke up, I really didn't feel any physical difference.

I am sure it will get under control soon...

"Does anyone else have high BP? If so what do you take? Have you had any side effects? Have you had to modify any of your psych meds because of it?"

I have been dealing with high blood pressure for almost a year now. My physician has been able to keep it in check with a few different medications. Currently, I'm taking Azor. I haven't noticed any side effects at all and it doesn't interfere with my Paxil or Klonepan.
