This is a horribly embarrassing post, especially since it seems that most people on this site are women. Have any men here struggled with performance anxiety and premature ejaculation? This was a major problem with my first sexual partner but seemed to go away with my second. Recently I started getting sexual with a new partner. We haven't had intercourse yet but these problems seem to be back. I don't know what to do about this. I thought I had overcome it but I'm terrified that it's back. It's driving me insane. It makes me hate my body and myself more than I already do.

OK I'm a woman... but a partner I was with for 3 years had this problem and it was helped if he masturbated before we had sex.

mook, i second what katt said. my first husband had the same issue (btw, i never thought badly of it. there are other ways to please). however, masturbation prior to the act will slow down the premature ejaculation. if you're morally against masturbation, maybe you can get your partner involved in another method prior to the actual act?

gl. i'm sorry you felt embarrassed to post this. it's a very good question about something that many ppls deal with.

take care and gl!

Embarrassing reply.... as a male I have experienced sexual dysfunction and premature ejaculation.

Though I have not been sexually active for about 2 years do know how frustrating this can be. Even when it regards masturbation.

I am not sure if you are currently taking any prescription medications? If you are even medications for anxiety can have a signigicant impact on your sexual functioning as well as libido. If you are or are not taking prescription medications, this is a legitimate concern, especially with a partner you care about.

I would suggest if the above mentioned methods such as masturbation before engaging in intercourse do not benifit, then I would suggest discussing this further with your Family Doctor as to alternative treatments.

If you do not have a Family Medical Doctor, then you may seek help under 'Urologist' common listed under such topics as 'bedwetting ect.' This is a Medical Specialist who deals with the Male Reproductive organs and issues in adults such as impotence. The Urologist could help to determine if anything medically is causing this. Also if it is possible to treat this through medical treatments.

I am not sure if this was of any benifit?

Remeber before engaging in any sexual activity alway practice safe sex. Although Abstinance is the only 100% protection from STD's, Latex Condoms used in combination with Water Based Lubricants greatly reduce the risk of contracting a Sexually Transmitted Disease.

Take Care,
