I don't know what to do with my daughter. She has been diagnosed with ADHD and I am trying to get her on meds, but her father will not consent. We have joint custody so he has to consent. She has just been a horror to be around lately. Her attitude sucks, she throws tantrums when she doesn't get her way. She gets violent with me. She is almost 9. She is hugging and kissing on boys in school, which is not tolerated. I don't know what to do. The angry part of me wants to do mean things to her, but I cannot do that. There is part of me that wants to ignore it, but that is what her father does. Then there is the loving side that wants to show her the tough love that she needs. I just don't know how to go about all this. My health is not great, and I don't feel like I can deal with her issues and mine at the same time. I am so frustrated.

The behaviors you describe are not adhd behaviors, but they do warrant attention. Sounds like she's a very angry girl and is acting out. Have you considered the need for therapy for her?

Chris, she is in therapy. She also sees a pdoc and is adhd. I know that she has some other issues. It just is getting to be too much for me. I love her dearly, but can't focus all my energy on her. I am physically and emotionally drained. I don't feel like I can keep doing this.

I am a parent of an ADHD child and I know how frustrating and difficult this can be. Sending you soothing and calming thoughts.
