Hello, People,
If you have very young children or grandchildren you may want to take a look at an article that appeared in today's (8/26/10) NYTimes: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/29/ma...agewanted=1&hp It's about the discovery and development of psychological problems of pre-schoolers, with depression being in the forefront. Apparently this is a relatively new area, originating only in the nineties. ![]()

funny this is such a new concept even though I can understand why. After all, as an adult they look at these kids and think that since they are so young and free etc. that they would "have no reason" to be depressed. As if you needed a reason to have depression other then a chemical imbalance in the brain you're born with.
These kids shouldn't be on drugs unless it's some kind of emergency situations (like suicidal) but I think teaching coping skills and other positive things would go a long way. |
