My little boy is 10 years old and in the 5th grade this year. Well, just these past few days he's been complaining of a stomach ache. It's only been in the mornings before school and then again at night when it's almost bedtime. I asked him if something was wrong at school and at first he said no, then I asked again and assured him that it was okay to tell me if there was. He thought for a min and then said he's having trouble in History class, that he's not making good grades. He's always made straight A's so I guess that could be making him worry, but I'm worried it may be something else too. Just tonight he complained he had a headache and stomach ache and then asked me to see if he had a fever, which he didn't. He doesn't want to go to school tomorrow. He's already stayed out 1 day. I don't know what to do, I'm really worried about him. Should I talk to the principal and his teachers? Should I take him with me or should I talk to them alone? I just don't know.

I would talk to the teacher of the history class. Perhaps a student is bullying him or if it is a problem with the teacher you will know more.

Perhaps if his aches continue, you might want to take him for a check up at the doctors. Just to rule out anything physical. It does sound like he is trying to avoid school though. I hope nothing serious is wrong.

My son has been out of school for three days with a stomach bug. That may be all it is.

I had a lot of stomache aches and headaches at that age. My mom took me to doctors who could find nothing physically wrong. I was being bullied at school and I was depressed. I would talk to the teacher to see if there is more going on than what your son tells you.

Well things seem to be better with him, he's going to school fine now. There didn't seem to be a bully. I guess he was just working himself up over his history class. I too have had headaches all my life starting at a young age. Now, every now and then I will get a really bad Migraine. We've had his eyes checked and they were fine, I wonder if he gets headaches because I do and did when I was that age.
