Well, I want to eventually be pregnant. I am a lesbian, so I would be going to a sperm bank and it wouldn't be for a while. (So no unexpected surprises LOL) But I was wondering, I am a size 1 in jeans. I'm trying to gain more weight. I weigh about 110/115. But is that an OK weight to be pregnant at? I never really knew and has been a concern for me or curiosity. I'm very small, I wear an extra small in clothes and sometimes a small, depending on the brand. It's hard to gain weight though for me. I was curious to know though- if anything. Thanks!

Debbie.

Well, I can't tell you anything for sure. I know it can be more difficult to conceive if you're underweight (although I don't know your height or build so couldn't say for sure if that's the case). However, you will naturally gain weight during the course of your pregnancy. I know several people with smaller builds who successfully conceived and carried to term. There are several things you should consider if you're trying to become pregnant - starting to take certain vitamins, like folic acid, before conception for example. I'd make a list of concerns and questions, and make an appointment to talk to a professional in that area before actually making the attempt. If you're on any psych meds, that could also be a concern. So you'd need to plan around that as well. Good luck.

It depends on your BMI, if you are getting periods you should have enough weight on you to sustain a pregnancy. Smaller women tend to gain a lot more, 35-45 lbs on average but that's good because it helps you provide sustenance during breastfeeding.

I'm 5'9 and was 115 pounds (very healthy was working out & eating healthy) when I found out I was pregnant with my surprise. Ive always been small, eat like a truck driver and can't gain weight for the life of me, apparently there's nothing wrong with me except an outrageous metabolism that will I'm positive has to slow down in the next few years. Got up to 150 and a week after my son was back to 120, was a healthy pregnancy & he was 6 pounds 8 ounces & I had a TON of fluid, pretty gnarly. My suggestion to you is when you do decide to get pregnant DO NOT get rid of you're pre-pregnancy clothes. I was convinced id never look or be the same weight ever again and got rid of 90% of my clothing...big mistake! Good luck to you & yours and I hope a healthy pregnancy for you in the future!
