hi, i was just wondering about it that when parents think of their children everything for them, they why cant we (children) consider them everything for us. I mean at adult age we prioritize the other things rather than our parents.
it happened with me,seriously, but it does not mean that i dont respect them, i respect and love em a lot.
did it happen with anyone else that u give priority to some one else at a time rather than parents.

Yes. We are designed, to become independent of our parents. Even marrying, and having children of our own, is prioritizing someone other than parents.

Healthy Parenting, means, to me, giving of myself, to my children, but keeping myself as a priority, as a woman. I am not just a mom. The kids, will grow, and leave me, and I will know, I've done my job.

I don't remember where I heard it, but it has stuck with me for a long time.
A child's only priority in life is to grow up and grow up well.

It has often been said that we only had this problem of parents needing to rely on their adult chidren so much because people live so long. When people died in their 60's they were able to take care of themselves up until they got sick and died.

I try very hard to be there for my mother. I just set clear limits regarding how often I could be with her and she knows when she can plan on me to help. She doesn't mind my concentrating on other aspects of my life because she knows she is included in my plans.
