I will never be pregnant. I suppose if I ever get married, my wife could get pregnant, but I would really like to adopt some day. I'd really love to adopt a special needs child. I know a transgender man who adopted twins with his wife. So being transgender won't be a barrier. But will a diagnosis of bipolar disorder make me ineligible to adopt? Or foster?
I'm in Canada if that makes a difference.

Yes, in Canada you can adopt with mental illness. You must have your symptoms under control, be medication compliant (if you need meds) and will need documentation from your pdoc regarding your mental health.
