Raising children is tough, but very rewarding. However there is a difference between them. If you have a boy and girl, which one is -was the easiest to raise?
I would say my son hands down. __________________ I asked God to keep me safe from my enemies, now half my friends are gone. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Bipolar I MDD -------------------------------------------------------------------- Lamictal-100mg Effexor-225mg Trazodone-100mg propranolol 80mg |

Overall, my son was much easier to raise than my daughter was. My son was very self-sufficient. My daughter much needier. Sometimes I felt like I was neglecting my son a bit in order to care for my daughter.

I asked my mom, she said the consensus is that girls are easier. LOL.
I don't think any of that is true. It's either the nature of the child, no mattering the gender, or the expectations you have on the kid. __________________ |

My daughter is 10 and my son is 6 so we still have a lot of stages to go through. This is a really difficult question for me to answer. They are challenging and easier in their own ways. My son was by far the easier baby through 2 year old. So far he has been much more difficult ages 3-6. I anticipate my son being easier and less emotional as a teen, but who knows. They are both brilliant, stubborn, funny, emotional and manipulative in their own ways.

I agree with this completely. I really hate questions like these, I hate people that compare their children by saying which one was easier to raise. I believe this can be hurtful to the "difficult" child. All children have their challenges, all people are different and have different personalities. There is no direct answer for this because like the person above said it depends on the nature of the child and your expectations. I don't think it is fair to judge either way or to even say that one child was easier or better in some ways. There are wonderful things about raising both girls and boys and I think it truly depends on how you view things instead of being biased towards one gender. Some kids are more emotional, need more attention, get cranky faster, need more comfort and understanding, does that make them difficult? I don't think so, I think that every child is unique. Like I said, I absolutely hate when parents compare one gender to the other, or one child to the other, on which one is more difficult to raise. Raising all children no matter the gender is difficult, and I think it is hurtful to say one child is more "difficult" than the other.

Maybe your daughter just requires more comfort or has a different personality? Maybe she is more emotional and requires more attention? Maybe you need to view her personality in a different way. I really hope you do not tell her that your son is "hands down" easier to raise. That kind of comparison is something a parent should never do. This comes off as some sort of favoring to me. All children should be treated equally and should never feel that they are the "difficult" child.

Hi buzz bee:
Whenever I see questions like this, I am puzzled that people do not ask about which kind of PARENTING is easiest, etc. In my experience, as a kid, the quality of our parenting was the real issue - not the qualities of us kids. In some sense, all of us kids would have been EASY to raise if only our parents had been more adequate. So, I see the question and it's issues in reverse. Good parenting produces easy to raise kids - boy or girl! Bad parenting causes DIFFICULT kids. That may seem simplistic but it's the way things were in our family! |
