I feel really good about myself as a mother. So I thought I'd post some things here that I think I did right in Healthy Parenting.
When my son was little, he told me he doesn't want to grow up, he wishes he could stay a baby forever. So I told him 'then stay a baby forever'. He looked at me, stunned, and said 'I can do that?' And I said 'sure. You can do whatever you want to do'. And he loved that and it made him very happy. Of course, eventually, he moved on. But I think I said a good thing in that moment. __________________ "And don't say it hasn't been a little slice of heaven, 'cause it hasn't!" . About Me--T |

When my son was around 3, he said he wanted to marry me. That is a typical developmental phase and totally normal thing to feel. I told him 'You can't marry your mommy, but you can find yourself a girl who is just as lovely".

My son (with ADHD) hasn't been getting good grades lately. They offer extra help before and after school in his classes. I am having him go in early and stay late every day. I told him, "If you already know what they are reteaching, then you help another kid learn it. You can be a student, you can be a teacher. Besides, staying at school more, you'll meet new friends, and spend less time with the electronics at home."

My girls can come to me with anything! They are 21 y/o and have been upfront about things I would never have told my mother for fear of rejection. I don't do that to my daughters and I am so grateful that they can come to me!

Thank you for this! My son is 18 and I've been pondering some of the mistakes I've made and things I should never of done when he was younger, and whether he remembers them or not. This is a reminder, that no matter what mistakes I made as a Mom, he is a fine young gentleman. I am incredibly proud of him.

Yday my oldest DD emailed me "mom! I'm scared!"
She had auditions for a play. I was so touched that she shared that with me & let me into her world and I was able to email her a quick note of encouragement __________________ "Doubt is like dye.
