Hello – we moved our family 1400 miles TX to VA, turns out my teen son has a girlfriend and a good social network, now he is miserable, moping, totally disconnected, mad, constantly asks his Mom to move back with him…

We don’t know what to do? I took him out on day one to take a lesson in sporting clays which he enjoys, but didn’t change his mode at all. Took him and signed him up with a gym this morning with a coach, didn’t appear to change anything….

Help!

looking for advice or thoughts on what I should do…..thank you in advance

Hello madaboutmoving: Unfortunately I don't know as I have any useful suggestions for you here. But I saw that no one had replied to your post so I thought I would. This is such a difficult situation! I don't know how old your teen son is, & how close he is to graduating from high school. Is there any family he could live with back where you came from?

I presume he has a smart phone with which he can text his girlfriend & buddies. Does he have something such as Skype that he could use to keep in touch? Is it possible to arrange for some visits back to the old home town, so he has something to look forward to?

I'm afraid these aren't very creative suggestions. But they're what I can think of. Beyond these sorts of things, I'm afraid it's just going to take time. I wish you all well...
