My d15 has her appointment with the pediatric psychiatrist on Tuesday. The last time she had an appointment she ran away to avoid going to it. I blame myself for that because I told her about it ahead of time.
I feel like I'm walking on eggshells. Today one of my ex husband's family members told me another one of their family members has been hospitalized for bipolar. That makes three, including my ex. My d15 is in total denial. She already been diagnosed with alcohol overdose and depression by the ER and substance abuse, mood disorder and nutritional disorder by her doctor. I feel like I have to outfox my d to get her to her appointment on Tuesday. I think the best chance I have is waking up before her on Tuesday. She set her alarm for 6am, so mine will go off before 5:30am-6am and I will tell her we're going to the doctor. If she tries to bolt I will block the door. This is insane. Her doctor and my therapist both think she could benefit from being on medication. My therapist thinks she could have bipolar. I am not familiar with bipolar, its not on my side of the family. I had dysthymia, so I am familiar with the down side, but I am not familiar with the up side. Have any other parents had to run the gauntlet to get their child to a pediatric psychiatrist? |
