You really tried your best and could not have protected him more than you already did. And he is that way because of "the fault in our stars", not anything that you did.

Has he tried online therapy? maybe without the physical presence of a therapist in the same room, he won't feel so re-traumatized.

Long term side effects from medications some of them discontinued:
- hypothyroidism
- obesity

Suspected narcolepsy

Treated with Ritalin 5mg
