You're going to have to deal with the crying for a bit, if it's worked to get him what he wanted in the past, he'll use it to get what he wants now.

Is it possible to rid the house of soda? If its not there tell him all gone and give him juice, water, milk etc.

I'm with AAAAA on this one, get rid of all soda in the house. If you go out to eat, only offer milk or juice. Yes, it will be hard, but in the end it will be well worth it!

Take care,

Dee

I wouldn't try to correct his word, I'd just redirect him so he thinks healthier drinks like some juices are soda too and that "soda" is just another name for drink. There's plenty of time to fine tune his language when he's older; it's not like "soda" differentiates between orange, grape, or cola flavors, etc. I'd give him what you want him to drink and tell him it is soda; let him be a bit unhappy in the inaccuracies of the language for a bit :-) Just make sure you're not drinking "soda" when he decides he wants some! Wouldn't hurt for you to give it up to Soda He'll copy you and want what he sees you're drinking.

I agree with everyone as well - don't give a youngster soda to drink. That is a drink for older persons. Sorry about the crying - however, 2 year olds will carry on when they don't get what they want. It is what they do. You can comfort them, but don't give in.

perna has the right idea, my oldest daughter would only eat pork chops till she was 4, so we just told her it was pork chops no matter what meat it was. worked like a charm.

Well, hes is only two. Maybe it will just take him a little bit before he realises there is a difference.
