My 19 year old daughter and 16 year old son are going to an anti racism demonstration tomorrow morning. I am going out of my head with worry.
There is a BNP rally in a small town near here, they are getting on a coach to go and support anti BNP ....(British nationolist party)who are Nazis to say the least ...... they are against every thing - they support only british people. They dont like gay people, blacks, any other race apart from British .... and I'm scared my kids will end up hurt. Dani, my daughter has very strong opinions on racism and homophobia and she will become angry and her mouth runs away with her .... iam glad they are both standing up for what they elieve in, but still worried. I cant stop them going, there will be loads of riot police, hosrses, dogs etc ..... am i being paranoid or over protective?????? The skinheads in the BNP can get really violent ..... I'm frazzled andso are my nerves ...... Jinny ![]() |

Are there some people in the anti-BNP group that are aware of dangers and are level-headed about it, so that your children could be surrounded by them?

you are right to worry, but the police will be there just waiting for trouble to start. i know in the usa the nazi party has rally's, and the anti nazi do too, they are usually very peaceful here because the police keep the pros and antis physically seperated. praying for your kids to be safe.

I am NOT defending the BNP in the least I hate all they stand for, over the past few years they have tried to clean up their image (if thats possible) and have had many peacefull demonstrations if anything it was the other crowds who was getting into trouble. I think they will be ok I will send up good thoughts for your children.

The papers are saying there will be a very strong police presence there ..... there was n trouble last year, it's only for the morning and my kids are both working tomorrow night so they will not be attending the after demonstration party which I'm pleased about in case there are any repercussions ....
Thankyou for your prayers ..... like i said before i am proud of them for standing up for what they believe in, i told them i feel like a bad mother for letting them go, they both said I'd be a worse one if I didn't let them ![]() ![]() ![]() Tony and I have always trusted and respected their decisions ... the minute they go against us or break that trust is the day they will not be able to have so much freedom (well, my son that is my daughter is 19) Jin ty for all your replies |

We all teest the world in our own ways,,some more dangerously,,some more cautiously,,but always testing.. I know how your feeling,,we wish we could surround them against the threats the world poses...but we can't..it would be cheating on their test...LOL What I tried to teach my children was to simply.."Pay Attention"..doing that alone would often give them whatever head start they would need to sidestep trouble...like knowing where the exit is...where the police are...where a telephone is,,where North is,,,where shelter is,,where there is water,,etc...just that extra moment of knowing what is about you... I admire their stance and their support for it,,and their parents for teaching them to stand up for what they believe... Lenny

Tell the kids, to be careful, pay attention to what is going on arround them and know where the "exits" are if things go south at the demonstration.
That being said I will pray for their well being and admire them for standing up for good things, we need more young peeps who are against racism and homophobia TJ |

glad they are home safe, i think many people go into police work so they can push people around(not all, please noone take offense). also, better to be shoved than police not care if lines are crossed, however, i am with you, the mama bear instinct would want to go after that cop.
they probably could only keep one group under control anymore so sent home the group that was more orderly and less likely to start trouble. you have raised intelligent young people who hopefully have enough others of thier generation that we can finally get this world turned around somewhat,be proud. lost

(((((((((((((((((((thankyou lost)))))))))))))))))))))
I am so proud of them ....i know i have to let go .... they are going to more of them, they are so angry with all the racial abuse that goes on ..... my son didn't swear at the cop, he just told him to get is filthy hands off him (stifles snigger) because the cops were actually siding with the BNP or so it seemed. Let's hope this world is wiped clean of its racism and soon ... may seem like a tall order sometimes but together we can do it .... Jin xoxoxoxoxoxo |
