I am almost with out words on this....in fact not sure i could say them irl..right now..I will when the school calls me back....
Son just called...and believe me this kid has done so good. Has been so polite to me. Was so good to ((bunnies))) I know he once again did not deserve this. I am so upset.Thats putting it mildly.
He calls me from his cell on the bus. Remember its a hour and half ride home. At school today end of the day a kid who has been bugging him for weeks. Came stood next to my sons girlfriend reached around her and hit him in the face...this time he was hit in the chin and lip....
He did not hit back. As i said before you are not allowed to defend...
in school.
The school did not call me. My son did . I am waittiing for thier meeting to be over.
I have to wait a hour before he is here......
He has been so respectful. so kind to me latey...gave me a hug before he left for school today...Was so good with ((((bunnies)))))))
My son as he told me did get lunch detention as he called the kid who hit him a ((bad word)) after he was hit..
My son is 6foot , his foot is better,,is in great shape, I know if he wanted to he could have done the same the other kid did ,,,,but he choose not too....
I am livid they had time to ice his chin and lip.((glad they did that)).give him detention,.......and a lecture on the bad word.
Why not time to warn me ahead..to let me know hes hurt...................
For the life of me I will never get this hitting thing or being mean.....
Kids come first not the paper work...
I am sorry to post something like this again.,....I do not understand why this would happen 2xs to him....
Back right after he was hit and he had a bad attitude yes maybe...
One issue I have had with him..we figured out why that happened....
He has never been in a fight at school ............ever..................
Hes not a angel by any means............But did not deserve this...............
Once again sorry........I really needed to vent.............
now i am going to go cry.........done being upset.........ty for letting me write this........i do not understand.......

Part of me honestly cannot believe that the school did that, and the other part recognizes the familiar scenario.

I am in my last year of high school and I've seen a lot of really crazy things. The school system is always worried first and foremost about covering themselves. If there's time afterwards to patching someone up and letting the parents know, then they MIGHT do it.

I'm really sorry to hear that about your son. Prayers that things will go better.

(((( Muffy )))) You're right. Your son didn't deserve that AT ALL. It infuriates me. Can you go and have a meeting with the school personnel? I'd do something to have a stop put to this. It's completely unacceptable. I'd be upset, too.... heck I AM UPSET. Makes me angry for kids to be picked on and bullied like that. And I know he shouldn't have said the bad word back to him, but I have to admit that I might have done the same thing if I were in a similar situation. Maybe not the best way to handle it, though. But, if I were you, someone at that school would be hearing me loud and clear. Your son seems like a good boy, and he doesn't deserve treatment like that, especially when he can't even defend himself. I'm so sorry this happened.

(((((((((((((((((((muffy))))))))))))))))) As the saying goes, don't mess with a momma bears cubs, it's the same for lambs! If you get nowhere with the administration at school--go to the school board. If that gets no where, write a letter to the editor of a local paper. Done that!! Did the child who hit him get detention? You honestly cannot defend yourself at school? I'm all for walking away and never ever starting a fight, but I'm also for self defense--self respect. Make noise, let them hear you roar. I've gone up to football games and pulled the superintendent from the game to discuss issues before (and believe me, in my hometown, you don't mess with football game time!!). Go to your school board meeting and let them know that you feel your child is being treated poorly.

((Muffy & son))

The school should have called you. It's tough at that age, especially when he's that big. If you get too involved as a parent, it can sometimes backfire - i.e., he might get even more grief if it appears his parent has to fight his battles for him.

When my son was young, I used to get mad at my husband because he constantly messed with my son. They'd be calmly watching TV together, then my husband would smack him in the stomach - real fast and real hard. He'd keep doing it until my son caught his hand. Then they'd run through the house chasing each other, knocking things and each other over.

I put a stop to it one day because it all sounded so violent. My son came to me privately and asked me not to because he enjoyed "playing" with his dad. I'll never understand men.

During high school, what happened to your son happened to my son - A LOT. However, no one was able to land a blow because he was able to catch their hand in mid-thrust with a killer grip, and it always took the offender by surprise.

There is only so much the school and teachers can do when it comes to behavior. It would be nice if they addressed the issue of behavior towards classmates to the entire group of students - without singling out your son.

In the meantime, would your son be interested in taking some martial arts classes?
Thanks for this!

(((Muffy)))

This is completely unacceptable and unfair. If he was bruised badly enough to need ice, then the school definitely should have called you. I'd be all over the school principle on this. And what about the kid who puched him, how is he being punished? I remember being bullied at school and my mom went and talked to the principle about it, and said that if they didn't stop it she'd start getting people charged for failing to stop an assault. They really came down hard on the bully after that and the bullying stopped for me at least.

There's no way your son should have to put up with that.

The school sounds completely unfair. I hope you can make a formal complaint with the school. Your son doesn't deserve this, nor do you.

Except that martial arts teaches self defense and apparently you're not allowed to defend yourself there. Bad situation all around.

So sorry this happened again (((((((((((((( Muffy& Son ))))))))))))) He did not deserve this. Things like this dont make sense. And the school bad on them for not letting you know ASAP after it happened. You have a right to be ticked about that for sure!!They are there to help and protect your child, and as a mother you are most definitely a part of that team! Don't let this slide hon. Let them know what you expect from now on. We've got your back here.

Love ya
Beth

((muffy)))) maybe we can all pull together again this time and repeat our earlier messages about bullying... everyone loses with bullies... i hope someone will read this and choose to protect their children by educating all their own friends and community leaders that this bullying behavior cant continue..

I am sorry it took so long to come back and say what happened . It took awhile to sort it out. I had to wait for the Principal to call me back. Which she did do 3xs.
My son was not at fault for this. Why they did not call me is, it seems it went to a teacher , who took it to a consular , who then at end of the day took it the Principal.
I am still not happy with the way they handled it at all. Schools need to step up.....
He was hit in the jaw and lip. Had to wait till he got home first. As the principal thought son was just pushed into the lockers.....
Oh forgot to say hes ok,,,just a sore jaw and fat lip....
Any ways I had my son call back the school and talk right to the principal. While it was fresh in his head, I was very proud of him,He talked like a adult.
Handled himself very well. Admitted to calling the other kid a name after being hit. Told her everything. He has really come far from this summer.
I just can not believe it happened to him again. Or how the school handled it.
But if it had not been handled this way I would not have seen how far he has come ? He did tell the principal that he would have protected his girlfriend thou..if she had been hit...
I told him that would be the correct thing to do. As there were 2 boys ...
Also he told the principal about issue with me, which he did not have to do. And said he never wanted to hurt another person......
((( I love my son))))))))))))))
THe only thing that made me a little sad but I am glad hes aware. He said to me after " I can not trust everyone can I"
I had to tell him no he can not....But that there are really good ppl out there. He will learn who he can and who he can not.
On another note...He wants to go to college for Justis's ((police I think he means))
I want to thank all of you for all your support as always. I really needed to at that point vent, I was stunded. He used my same words i am *ok*
I thought great...lol But he is better than ok....alittle sore ...but very much grown up........ I can not tell you how much he means to me,
My heart sunk with that call. He was even adult about calling me. He did not want it to come otta the blue....
((((thank you everyone))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

((nowheretorun)))))))))))))))))))) I have to totally agree with this....
Everyone does lose, the kid who was bullyed, the teachers, the consulars, the ones watching, my sons girl friend........But most of all the kid who bullyed loses.........him i feel sorry for and hope he sees what hes doing...
I really hope his parents see... I really think its time we all looked inside ourselfs...to see what we can do......its our kids...they are the future...

They need to teach it in school the harm it does,,,,,,,My son is blessed..
this time.........I pray there is not a next time.......

I've just seen this Muffy .... so sorry this happened to your son .... did he get praise from the school for not hitting back??????? Sometimes I wonder what makes people tick...... Good for him for not hitting back ... so he said a bad word, whatis he supposed to do stand back and let this other person walk all over him? At least he didn't use violence back ....

I hope you manage to have a meeting with the school and tell them how disappointed you are with they way they behaved ..... did the other boy get punished?

With you all the way here ..... mothers instinct coming out strong .....

((jinn)) thank you
yes he did get praise afterwards for not hitting back. Some how in the beginning of this the princable was left out. After She had a meeting with teachers and consular involved, and my son talking to her on the phone. He did the correct thing and I have to say took the lunch detentions for swearing at the kid. Afterwards. Was very proud he did that. A few months ago he would not have done that.
All as i know as of this point is the other child is out for 2 days. But that may change. As they thought my son was shoved into lockers. Different story with him being hit. They have a zero tolerance....to hitting..
These kids are really adults 17 to 18. Seniors...
Its a private school for kids with LD, and other issues. BUT no bad behaior problems((spelled wrong))
I guess there as been a problem all year.
In my heart I do not want the other child to be kicked out of this school....WHat i would like to be seen is they go into medation about this.
Where both kids are talked threw this with a adult. So the other boy learns how to handle his anger...there is a whole lot more going on than i can say.
So if it can I would like it worked threw....
I am sure i will know more today.
I am so grateful my son only has a sore jaw. I am most grateful his girlfriend was not hurt...
I am really really grateful on how my son handled it this time...
sorry to go on...

You are not going on hon ,,,, it is good to talk about it. I know how you feel, although of course you want to protect your son, you don't want others to hurt either ... afterall, they have LD. I think YOUR idea of mediation is the best idea, this way the other guy can see and learn by his mistake and learn from YOUR son the correct way by NOT using violence.

I hope this is resolved .... You're such a good mum and always do your very best .... like you say look how far your son has come in a year ....

you deserve to be proud and pat yourself on the back .... Love, Jinny xoxoxoxoxoxo ((((((((((((((Muffy and Son))))))))))))))))))
