I've been out of the hospital 6 weeks and I've emailed my inpatient doctors several times because they wanted me to follow up on a study which could help me (and I wanted to update them). And I emailed Dr today to ask about what other ideas he had for me. When I was in the hospital he told me if Saphris didn't work he had other ideas and I wanted to know what they were. I've been struggling really badly (and went to ER last week). I haven't heard back from either doctor.

Did they, or the hospital, refer you to another Dr? If so then you should be contacting that Dr.

As for the study. In my experience if a Dr. feels a study would be a good fit, then they provide me with information on how to contact the study's in-take people along with how to apply, and what the criteria for acceptance are. If they haven't and you're interested you might have more success contacting the Drs' assistants and saying you're looking for study info.

It's been my experience that inpatient Drs don't follow up with you once you've been discharged.

Is it wrong to email your inpatient doctor?

I'm struggling. The inpatient doctors wanted me to try psychedelic therapy so they contacted Shepperd Pratt about that study and SP will not return my emails (so I wanted to contact my inpatient doctors because I'm really struggling with a bunch of things from anhedonia to anxiety). And my outpatient Dr. has been of absolute no help the last year - the last year I've landed in the hospital 5 times and all he says is "hang in there"!

I saw 2 inpatient drs in the hospital who treated me very good (much better than the staff did).

(((((((((((cool)))))))))))

Do you have a family doctor who could contact them on your behalf?

Where I live it would be protocol that one's family doctor contact them.

I don't know if that would work.

It’s not wrong but you are unlikely to get a response as the key word here is “inpatient “ you are no longer inpatient. In my experience inpatient doctors cut all ties to patients once they’ve been released regardless of what they say while you’re inpatient.

That;s where I'm in a bind. The inpatient Dr. said he had other ideas if Saphris didn't help. No other Dr. has said that before and I want to know what he meant. The first day I was in the hospital I couldn't stop shaking or get out of bed and he told me emphatically, "You're going to feel better". I had about a month where I felt fantastic on Saphris. My anxiety stopped, I started enjoying myself, I started to like myself and I stopped ruminating then it stopped working. He also said I could come back to the hospital if I needed and he would be my Dr.

Yeah if you come back, he’d be your doctor but if you are outpatient he’d likely cannot get involved. You need outpatient doctor if you aren’t in the hospital
