Lately i have been feeling sort of blue and irritated and just want to make myself feel better. its not the sort of blue where im down all the time and dont want to get out of bed but still the odd cry here and there. but now i just want to spend and spend to make things the way i want them to be to be easier its not on frivolous things its things that do increase quality of life but i am so broke from dr appt and ive cancelled so many and therapy sessions ive also cancelled just to save. ive been ill on top if my bipolar and ive had those bills coming inn too. it never ends i had a plan to get out of debt. it was a three year plan its turnting into a five year plan how do you stop spending when you keep thinking its necessary.

I wish I had an answer for you. But, I would NEVER cancel my appointment with my therapist. Keep those appointments and they may be able to help you control the spending. Always pick your mental health over material needs. I know it is hard but you have to force it sometimes. If you can't, give the money for your therapy sessions to a trusted friend and tell them to NOT give you the money until your scheduled appointment.

I was lucky and use to live down the street from a antiques "mall" that had hundreds of stalls with all sorts of stuff (might work if you're near a flea market?) and occasionally I'd take $10 only with me and find "The" item :-) I've done it in grocery stores (limit how much you take with you and find the one item that you most "want") and I imagine it could be done in a dollar store.
As a matter of fact, I made a collage of "chores" and numbered them, rolled dice and had to "do" whatever number chore I rolled. One of the numbers was for the dollar store; I had to go to the store and buy a single item and then bring it home and use it. It got my creativity going :-) and made doing chores fun. Think of a literal project to do and get the items at the dollar store or go see if you can find the most out-of-date food item in the dollar store and buy it :-) I've bought batteries there, not looking at expiration date and they were a several years out of date, LOL. __________________ "Never give a sword to a man who can't dance." ~Confucius |

Thanx for the tips. I'm trying hard to curb the spending urge. On top of the overspending I do have medical bills and student loans and all the normal phone electric etc. I've been borrowing from friends and have to eventually give back to them too. That's my priority so I still have my friends. I do need to get this under controll don't want to be anymore in debt. And I want to stay healthy too

We have a plan....he doesn't organise the spending I do....we have a joint account he has an account just for him and I have 2 accounts....his money goes into the joint account when he needs money I transfer it electronically into his account (there is no card access to the joint account) our long term savings go into the joint account, and one of my account is for periodic deductions and the other for day to day funds to get school shoes for the kids or whatever. it means a delay to spend more than we have with us, we have to plan what we need before we leave the house and transfer it before we go.
that helps cut down drastically on the impulse buying and keeping a budget and paying the bills before anything else keeps them paid up to date and makes the future weeks easier to handle.... |
