I've been feeling lately like I might need to go to inpatient, but I know nothing about the insurance and money involved. I'm on my dad's Blue Cross plan because I'm in college. And I'm broke. And so are my parents. So I'm very hesitant to go to inpatient without knowing anything about the cost, etc. Can someone help me out please? I'm at a loss...

RebbieDoll, do you have a therapist? You should probably ask them; the whole thing has a lot to do with what your Dad's insurance plan is like. Usually you have to get authorization, etc. to do inpatient and that involves your therapist and the hospital making plans together and I'm sure will involve your parents and what their plan says is covered for how long, costs, etc.

Ah oh, thank you. Ugh I was hoping parents wouldn't have to be involved but I guess since it's their insurance...no inpatient for me

Look at something like this, see if maybe you could make it work and not have to involve your parents? Although, they'd still get the 20% or whatever the insurance didn't pay and the bills, etc.? Can you get insurance through your school, unrelated to them?

Thank you very much, I'll look into that. I actually live in that area, so that's very helpful. I haven't applied for school yet, but I probably have to stick with my parents' insurance. As long as I don't have to sit down and talk with my parents about it, that's okay.
