I just recieved a letter from my case worker stating that my medicaid coverage will end 11/30/10. Apparently, I "have not met the required guidelines for the MO HealthNet for the Aged, Blind, and Disabled program." Seriously?? I met it earlier this year and now all of a sudden I don't meet the guidelines? I don't get it. Do I thank the wonderful leader of this country for the healthcare reform? I have no clue how I am going to afford my meds now along with my bills. I am struggling to keep my head above the water financially as is, now I have this added weight pulling me down.

Wow... I would definitely contact your case worker and ask him/her to explain to you how they made the decision that you don't qualify.

That is such a horrible thing to happen. Can you fight this ruling? I don;t understand your country's healthcare system quite as well, but I do hope that you get it sorted out. You are right, you don't need the extra stress of paying the healthcare bill on top of everything else, it makes getting help very ironic...

Healthcare reform has nothing to do with who qualifies for Medicaid. I'm guessing the state or county budget got gutted or there was a simple mistake in processing your case.

Yes, the health care reform act has caused people to lose their own insurances (generally because the business they work for has to end it, or has gone out of business) and in general has caused an increase in enrolment in medicaid. States don't have the funds to handle the increase, and thus have to cut benefits for all to give benefits to all.

Hang tight... we'll know better what is going to occur by the end of the year I think. I haven't received my open season packet myself, and am wondering if they held it until after elections??? For some reason?? If it goes up, I may have to end my private insurance and go on the State's back as well. __________________ |

Contact them back and ask directly what they require from you in order to qualify , do it nicely and respectfully. If they need you to have your docs fill in more paper, go for it.... good luck. I know its a scary prospect.

I finally got ahold of my case worker's supervisor. Found out that they are switching computer programs and that a LOT of people recieved those letters. My insurance is not ending! What a relief that is.
