We are financially messed up and really need to find a way out. A while ago I used to play the lottery but stopped because I realized I was throwing my money down the toilet, and also that if I won the huge jackpot, it would ruin me. I am Bipolar, and spending sprees are a huge problem for me. Give me millions of dollars and it would only create chaos.
But then a friend was talking about Win for Life, a lottery here where you buy a ticket and if you win, you win $1,000 a week for life. I thought that was perfect, because it's not a huge jackpot that could ruin me, but it's basically an extra salary. I could keep working for a while and pay off all our debts very quickly, and then consider cutting back to part-time or quitting my job. I would have a salary of $52,000 for the rest of my life. So now my heart is all set that I'm going to win it. I have very limited spending cash, so when I won a weight loss challenge at work yesterday and won $23, I gave $1 to my daughter, put $20 in the "fun money" stash for the family, and kept $2 specifically to buy this lottery ticket the next time I make it to a machine. And I've been thinking about and dreaming about winning. What the hell? I'm not going to win! Odds are like 1 in a million! Why do I think that just because this would be the right solution for me, that it's just going to fall in my lap? __________________ Martina 30 year old wife & mom to a 5 year old girl Bipolar Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder |

The lottery is a game that you are unlikely to win. You understand that. As long as you are playing the game responsibly with only a couple dollars every week or so I don't think that is unhealthy. I play the lottery too but only buy one ticket for each drawing. I know that chances of winning the multi million prize is unlikely so I hope I can win a smaller prize. We may not win but it is fun to think 'what if'?

My friend and I used to laugh and say if we won the lottery.... we'd just bounce bigger checks. lol
You could still have fun planning what you would do with a million or two and not play the lottery. I think the wish to have enough, and not have to worry any more about every dollar, and how we would share it (do you need my address?) are a brief escape and can be fun |

Oh what fun it is to dream of winning the lottery......i would invest in a place i could afford once i am alone. i would spend a little on something frivolous...ipad...or new paint job for my car...then i would save the rest....invest a little....share a little...but keep most of the news of winning a secret. i wonder if i would be able to relax then?
