I'm curious what the rates are across the country/world.
How much does your pdoc/therapist charge for a session? Not what you pay, but what they charge (bill to the insurance, if you have insurance....like, say your copay is $20, but they bill $90 to insurance and your insurance company pays the other $70). Psychiatrists: Psych nurses: Psychologists: Therapists: Other: __________________ Martina 30 year old wife & mom to a 5 year old girl Bipolar Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder |

I've been to a few different providers.
Most therapists (LCSW, MFT, that sort of credentials) charge about $90 per hour. A psychiatrist I saw charged $90 The psych nurse I was seeing charged $194! __________________ Martina 30 year old wife & mom to a 5 year old girl Bipolar Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder |

My T's full rate is $125. I think my pdoc's rate is $95/15mins. but I'm not sure about that. I'm just glad I have good insurance and only pay a portion of their rates.

My psychologist does sliding scale from $120 - $170 / hour. I've been paying $160 for years now. She did agree to reduce her fee to $100 / 45 min session while I'm unemployed.
The hourly reimbursement rate for psychiatrists up here is $160.95 - but that's covered by public health insurance. --splitimage |

My T charges 125 for an hour, gets 90 percent of that from insurance and my copay of 25. So she loses 10 percent dealing with insurance.
My meds lady charges 100 for 30 min med check, gets 90 percent with a 30 dollar copay from me. she also loses 10 percent for insurance. Both are psych NPs. __________________ "Unipolar is boring! Go Bipolar!" Amazonmom is not putting up with bad behavior any more. |

Therapist is 85/session, with a 1/4 copay per session (21.25). I'm not sure if she loses anything in the insurance process or not.

Um...I guess I don't have a rate? =/ I'm not sure how it works in Canada, I just know that I get to see my psychiatrist for free, so I'm afraid I don't know how much he makes per hour.

Pdoc
$115 - 25 min est patient/med check $140 - 35-40 min world gone to hades visit He has an open door policy to call anytime and does not always make me come; yet also does not charge which is appreciated, unlike some have had in the past. RNP/therapist $95 - 40 min on the dot but is available always for calls in between, counseling and support which does not charge for. |

Martina, my coverage. As per contractual agreement, my psychotherapist receives $65 from the insurance company, and there is a $15 co-pay on my part, for a 50-min session. The psychiatrist receives $45 from the carrier, and also a $15 co-pay from me.

My therapist's regular fee is $100 or $125.
When I first started seeing her, she discounted my fee to $85 because I was not using insurance. Recently she lowered it to $50. Gee, if I stick around long enough, maybe she'll end up paying me! |

So, now that you know there is the possibility of much cheaper therapy, maybe you could do contact some therapists and get back into therapy, if your dad agrees.
