I'm on a crappy high-deductible health plan this year, and they don't pay a DIME towards my medical until I reach a $2,500 deductible. That includes prescriptions.

So my prescriptions are full-price.

My pnurse screwed up on a refill and I have to buy 60 pills instead of 30 at a time of the Wellbutrin. And I'm not really in the mood to make her fix the prescription. I'm just done with her.

The refill costs me $205. I also have to pay $100 for the Lamictal and a cheap amount for the Lithium.

We're not low-income on paper, but we have massive amounts of debt and $300 bucks is NOT cheap!

I've looked for assistance programs before, but none of them will accept you if you have insurance. I guess they assume insurance actually PAYS something!

Any ideas on where to look? Specifically for the Wellbutrin.

Guess I should have looked again before I posted! Go to the wellbutrin.com website and there's a coupon for $35 bucks off (or a $15 copay if your copay is up to $50).

But that's for brand-name Wellbutrin....probaby cheaper to just get generic. I'll have to find out.

That's something!

I take the generics for everything now and it's way cheaper since I have a terrible insurance plan too - in January I got brand names for a few and paid over 7oo bucks for 3 prescriptions. I also shamelessly ask for samples when I see my dr

Martina, I have always heard good things about this program. Montel Williams used to do a lot of promotion for it. You can qualify even if you have Rx coverage:

Thanks, but all that refers me to is the Oregon Health Plan and I know we're not low-income enough, especially when they see we have health coverage already.

I wish there was a program that listed income AND debt. Sure, I'm the dumbass who racked up all the debt, but there was a reason for it, and I'm basically living on less than half of my income now.

Be VERY careful of Wellbutrin's generic because it is notorious (google it and see) for being very different from the real thing. I was put in the deepest pit of depression by the generic and only after reading about the difference online did I put two and two together. I am now on the brand name and am doing much much better. Hope it all works out!

It depends on what company manufactures the bupropion. My PNP has written my generic prescription to exclude the bad manufacturer. Most of them are OK.

My generic Wellbutrin costs me $205 a month. You really expect me to buy brand-name? I'm not a billionaire.

Is that the 60 pills for $205 or the 30 you want? I would just buy the 60 now and not have to worry about pnurse and getting more from her ever again? It will last you until you can find a new prescriber. It may even be cheaper to buy "more" now rather than two prescriptions of 30 each which would require more prescription writing/filling, etc. time for medical personnel and pharmacist both so cost more to do; that's why they're doing prescriptions in 2 or 3 month lots, so you don't have to go back to the doctor and/or get a new prescription.

Martina,

For a couple years I went through northwestpharmacy.com depending on what type you take it could be as low as $56 for a three month supply. You have to get the doc to write you a script for 100 pills as that's how they sell it so cheap but once you do it'll end up being about $30 a month! Hope this helps,
Love and hugs,
Tara
