After burning out at work, working 70 hours a week, with little sleep and barely able to concentrate, plus boss calls me idiot when cant stay late at work.
my psychiatrist put me on medical leave after I broke down in tears in her office.
She filled out all necessary paperwork etc. After almost 2 months of waiting for decision, I find out STD is denied.
Denied why? Because I have pre-existing condition, PTSD and Depression and the cause was not work related.
My doctor is angry and is following up with insurance company, yet I am just tired of it all.
My medical leave is indefinite, but if I am not covered I am forced to go back to work earlier than expected, against doctor's advice

but I think it's common/normal to be denied the first time or two... whether it's part of the system to delay outlay of benefits, or if it's a built in delay because they are so far behind in claims (for eons!)...

Apply again. On your "preexisting" conditions, was your work aware of these? Did you take any intake surveys for the job, such as the MMPI? If so, and they felt you were fit for duty/able to do the job..and they hired you, then the job caused the flare/abreaction to those conditions when otherwise you could have done the jobs.

Glad your doctor is staying on it. Insurance companies need to be taken down a peg IMO and not be allowed to play doctor (I mean, where did they do their internship???)

The good thing is that benefits should be retroactive to when you first filed...tough now, but sweet then.
