Your income and resources have to fall within the disability level I believe:

my son is 11 yrs old, at the time we applied, he was diagnosed with mood disorder NOS, IED, and ODD.... our income was in the lower side with me not being able to work to take care of him (school calls for me to pick him up nearly daily at that time).. so he qualified.. he gets a monthly check (it isnt much, but i dont really care about the money) and the medicaid that comes with it...Which is what i wanted to get him on.. we got all kids covered under my husbands medical at work and since my 11 yr old is on medicaid, texas has a progrm that will pay us back the premiums for insurance so that it will cover what they cover and medicaid will only pay the deductables and copays... it really helps with 1. him being double insured makes me feel like im helping with his care and 2. the state dont have to pay the whole amount for his care (his med's alone last year were $3500 per month before insurance).....
