I know we are lucky here in the UK, and loads of other countries do not get any help, and yes i feel for them, but has any UK resident has their local council take their DLA care component to pay towards their care package? if so have you appealed the allowance (bit they left you with) on the grounds that your Disability Related Expenditure (DRE) is more than their allowance?and lastly if you have appealed have you won the appeal and been allowed to keep more of the allowance?
It seems like no one in my borough has been successful and i was wondering if this was a national problem or just a local one. |

They can't control the DRE (as everyone has a different problems/amount needed) and they only have a certain amount of DLA total to divide up with everyone. Presumably you get all the "share" available? I wouldn't think you could win?
In the US, President Obama was talking in his State of the Union speech about getting infrastructure (roads and bridges) fixed and expanded but I wish him luck; we don't have the money earmarked for it. There is only so much money and a zillion needs and a zillion individuals within each of those needs, etc. Hard to get there from here. __________________ "Never give a sword to a man who can't dance." ~Confucius |

the problem is not getting DLA from govenment, it is that once you get it the councils are then taking it to pay for care, which they already get money money from government for, and saying everyone is only allowed £20 maximum for their DRE! like you say Perna, DRE can not be controlled as everyones needs are different, but the councils here are trying to control it and when you appeal they give every excuse why £20 is enough!!!
saying things like there is no evidence of food intollerances, you need to provide a years worth of receipts for everything, asking silly questions like how much soap do you use in a week? and even when you provide the evidence and receipts for things they then 'think it is too much' and only allow you less than half of what you proved you need!e.g it costs £12 to wash my duvet when the ill fitting incontinence products they provide leak, which happens two or three nights a week, that means i spend 24-36 pounds on washing it at the laundry, so they are allowing £10 per week for this as they 'feel £24.36 is too much'!!!! the whole system is a hoax, just so they can say 'you can appeal' to make them look good even though they have no intention of letting anyone win! Some of their questions sound like trick questions to make sure you have no dignity or little habits left that they don't agree with. __________________ "Never give a sword to a man who can't dance." ~Confucius |

they definitely want to know everything about you, I am waiting for them to ask me to prove how many times I break wind each week! As for dignity, that went two years ago when told i could only use 4 incontinence pads each day even when I get the runs, I am waiting for them to cut the amount of those down after all they are cutting everything else!!!!
