I want to broach the subject at my second appointment. I am not necessarily decided, but I want to discuss. What would be the best approaches?

I told my doctor I was having trouble making ends meet financially including paying my medical bills with him. I was applying for temporary SSDI and heres some papers for him to fill out..

he filled them out while commending me for not waiting until I was so far behind in my finances as some of his other clients do. some people who really need a bit of help, see state assistance as a bad thing. He was glad to know I wasnt too proud to ask for help when I needed it. I was on SSDI for about 6 months. I helped pay my bills and gave me time to pull myself together mentally and physically and then get back to work when I was able to do so.
Thanks for this!

I agree with what was said by amanda. You should just be really frank with your doctor and explain how it effects your life so much you just feel you cannot work and are at your wits end. I would also give them a copy of the paperwork your old doctor filled out for SSI/SSDI so the new doctor can see that the old doctor believed that you need it and cannot work. I would also recommend that you get with a therapist ASAP because social security likes to see that your seeing a therapist and have a recommendation from them that you cannot work as well.
