My Dr.s, the mental hospital and my employer all agree that i am unable to work due to a mental disability. My husband and I have(and others mentioned have followed the directions submitting papers filling out forms etc. When I call the state office they tell me that my case is in the pending box because there is not enough information. When I ask them what else they need they say they are not sure and that there is no one else available to talk to. My very sane and capable husband is monitoring all of this and is as frustrated as I am. has anyone else had this run around? Are there such people that work as advocates to assist folks like us? I've been an up front fair and square worker for 35 years and this is upsetting
Thank you Bless you any practical advice would be appreciated

have you tried going in person to your local social security office? you may have to spend several hours, it is probably first come, first serve. but everything is on their computer (they can see your app). bring all your identification, like driver's license, social security card, birth certificate. look online for more info about your local office.

I'm usually the strong one and I don't have time to curse anything. I really just wanted to know if getting am advocate (if there is for this sort of thing) is helpful. I could probably get a lawyer$$$$

That might be a good idea hankster-I guess I could hand deliver all of the documents that have been already mailed It would be nice to communicate with the mysterious person they say has my documents in her "pending " file.
Thanks

"For more information contact Ellis Goodman at the Maryland Department of Disabilities by phone at (410)767-3656 or by email at egoodman@mdod.state.md.us"

From: http://www.mdod.maryland.gov/

I would hound the heck out of Ellis and email him and write letters to my local representative http://www.msa.md.gov/msa/mdmanual/3.../html/rep.html to complain if I did not get a satisfactory answer within 2-4 weeks. It is the Federal Government that could be your problem but the State administers it and if you and I are going to pay for fancy websites, they better back them up or my local Maryland Congress person is going to hear about it!

Thanks Perna-I wrote the name down and I am going to start raising hell. There's this really nice secretary who answers the phone and tries to help. She forgot to put me on hold and I could hear her saying-is there anyone hear from disability. She tried to get the head of the program maybe it was this Ellis guy and he was out of the office etc. etc. But I'm feeling a lot more motivated today and tomorrow I hope will be even better. Take care
