I think I must be lucky I've heard you have to appeal over and over before receiving benefits. I just found out I was approved, I won't starve and whither maybe. But my brain is still messed up.

Yes it is going to be quite an adjustment, I was receiving more on my disability from work but they required me to apply, I'm glad it wasn't a long drawn out process I'm not sure I could have handled it!

Congrats to you, I have been fighting for almost four years. Not sure we can hold on much longer. I was denied then I appealed it and won my appeal now it is sent back down for another hearing. No telling how long that will take.

I have an appeal in and I'm supposed to do a video confrence with the appeals judge. The judge may have to subpeona my doctors notes because they won't hand them over. The pdoc also wants $600.00 to fill out forms. Thats a months worth of elec. water and food!!!!
I am using a nationally known advocate I hope this helps my case, I'm not married and have no income at this time. I have been saving as much as possible stay home eat sleep and ****, can't afford to do anything else.

What I did find out for short term disability is the doctors must put down results of tests they have done that prove what ails you. It must be more than patient claimed to be feeling this or complained of that it has to be a verified test of some sort. It has to be more than your words written down by the doctor. I don't know what tests pdoc can do to prove PTSD,Depression or what ever. Does anyone know???

I was approved for SSI in July, then SSD in August and only went through about 8 weeks of waiting. I guess it's not impossible.

did you need your medical records to apply?

did you do this online? or did you go to the social security office?

I need to apply for my family member.

have you REAPPLIED three times?

or filed three appeals?

the secret is to not reapply- that puts you at square one.

you have to file appeals, usually two, because nearly EVERYONE gets two denials no matter what unless they are terminal. no appeal- no chance of getting approved.

@ Momroxs

I had my medical records sent from the hospitals I was inpatient at. I also had some from the outpatient. It was all covered under a signed medical release. I applied online on May 15th. I was approved third week of July for SSI and 2nd week of August for SSD.

I applied only once, and was approved within a couple of months. Just make sure you include EVERYTHING possible in your medical records, even if it seems like a tiny detail.
