If you are receiving....or thinking about signing up to receive social security benefits be very careful. At any given moment the big government machine will decide what you get, when you get it and why you get it. During that process if the big government system decides if it over pays you too much they take back those over payments with little or no warning. Has this happened to anyone out there ? I need your help and assistance in getting this waived. Apparently what happened 3-4 years ago crept up and kicked me in the ***. HELP !

yea that did happen to me. i was approved for ssdi (disability) then approved for ssi a week later. they put the ssi money in my account. a little under 1K. then they sent a letter saying that i shouldnt have gotten it. and they were right but i didnt understand why at that time. so since i JUST started recieving it they said theyd take the 1K out of my backpayment they owe me.

That is kind of what I was thinking....I mean I can see how it would suck and be very frustrating but its not really news to me that they can do that.

Did you apply for expedited reinstatement while you work on getting the problem resolved?
